Tips for surviving as a pet Necromancer

Hello, I got back into D4 after the loot rework and loving the pet necro but I’m finding that the toughness doesn’t scale as well as the damage output. I always seem to hit a wall at around P70 where I get oneshot.

I’ve equipped every defense aspect and skill and even spec’d into fortify. I use the following aspects

  • Might
  • Disobedience

I use the unique helm with damage reduction and off hand with damage reduction and decrepify. But still seem to get one shot pretty easily.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips? Thanks.

What exactly is one shotting you? Is it the boss? Is it the normal mobs?

Juggernaut and Hardened bones on ammy is all you need. If the unique is a Harlequin Crest, keep it on. Also more info on your other aspects/gear, stats, skills, and paragon board would be welcome. Maybe use maxroll’s build planner to recreate your current build, and link it here, so we can help you better.

Thanks all, forgot to mention that I also have hardened bones. Its usually on bosses but not uncommon when facing elites. I will see if I can share my build

If you dont care with all those billion damage golem build, and pit lvl 90 is enough to you, i can suggest my build.

I use 7 glyphs in my paragon, which 2 are damage reduction:

Undauted: 10% damage reduction with fortified

Territorial: 10 damage reduction to close enemies

I have also hardened bones aspect, with 25% damage reduction to you and minions.

My amulet have +4 death embrace, which give 28% extra damage reduction.

You can go even further, using shako for extra 20% (since im still using 2 hand scythe, it cant fit to my current build, but with 1 hand and focus it work).

Unfortunately, the blood golem first passive that should absorb 30% of your damage seems not working right, i did many posts about this in bug forum.

Hp is very important also, i have around 50k with elixirs.

I did another experimental build without army of the dead ultimate, going full DR with bone storm with barrier aspect and extra time with corpses, but the damage loss is significative (while playable).

I want to say “Gid Gud”, but is not that. More of anything is DPS. If you ant to survive as a minion master, you need your minion to kill fast. At least that´s how I pass the wall.

my path to survival is as follows:

  • get 9230 armour, no less and more is useless. Do not use disobedience to get this, as you will drop stacks and get 1 shot randomly.
  • get max res, if you can get tyreal’s might and get 78.5 max res with that at 12/12 at a the very least (thats 1 crit on max res). this also prodives 17% DR with 1 crit on DR at 12/12.
  • hardened bone is a must for aspects 25%DR
  • make sure you create lots of corpses without hewed flesh, to pump up your fortify, this needs to be up 99% of the time. 15% DR
  • obviously curse enemies with decrepify for another 20%DR
  • you can sacrifice one 10% multiplicative damage glyph for 10% DR too if you wish.
  • use blood golem with #1 upgrade for 30% DR.
  • get +max life on every item, ideally GA’ed.
  • got dodge on every slot, giving me 50% dodge chance and crowded sage aspect to heal from dodging
  • get blood getter’s aspect for constant healing to keep you at max life without potting.
  • your pragon boards should do 3 things, 1 give you your key build defining legendary nodes, 2 supply as many glyphs as possible to you, 3 give you as many max life nodes as possible. Ignore literally everything else.

I have nice gear, and farm pit100 with very very rare deaths on the boss as without any flasks I have just over 50k life, 72k with double elixir, you can get over 80k life if you get more life on gear. Then you can stand in every boss mechanic as long as they don’t double up on you, and even then you might survive.

Anyways this is less about “do what im doing!” and more just showing you what im doing, maybe it helps or gives you an idea. I always overdo defenses and end up doing zdps.
Infact because of this I dropped my golem for 30%x crit damage to climb up the pit ladder, so far at 115.
