Tiers of Blood Increased Damage calculation

Can somebody point out, what is the formula to calculate Increased Damage of the Tiers of Blood glyph?

For every 5 Core Stats purchased within range, you gain x% increased damage.

Easy, huh? Hmmm, no, my calculation points out, there is something more to take into account…

Lets calculate that the most chunky paragon board is Carnage, we calculate the lvl50+ glyph (increased radius to max). If you purchase all nodes with stats, you can have:

  • 33x Normal Nodes (x5 = 165 stats)
  • 6x Magic Nodes (x7 = 42 stats),
  • 2x Rare Nodes (x 10 = 20 stats)
  • Bonus to Rare Nodes (250% at maximum, it is 50 Strenght stats from both Rare nodes at maximum).

So, if you sum all Stats while we have maxed glyph, it is 277 Core stats. Every 5 Core stat blablabla, ok, the basis rate is then 277 / 5 = 55.4 (!!!)

Because the multiplier on lvl200 glyph is set to 5.98%, then the Increased Damage should be 55.4 x 5.98 = 331.3%

Where the hell the game get that the Increased Damage on lvl200 glyph is 1145.7% ?!?

there definitelly is some kind of a calculation… I just don’t get it :slight_smile: Maybe somebody figured it out…

I think the issue is you’re assuming it’s multiplicative when it’s additive. I could be wrong though, but judging from your numbers, I’m probably not far off.

It is multiplicative. But anyway, within the description of the glyph there is a statement, that every 5 core stat purchased you gain increased damage in percent. And when I calculate it, I came to strange number. I mean, really nobody figured out, that the increased damage simply doesnt equal to the description?

Since lvl50 of the glyph, the radius reaches its maximum and the amount of nodes is fixed.
The effectivenes of the glyph is progressive even though the nodes are fixed. With each upgrade of the glyph, its effectiveness increases progresivelly - “Increased damage” is increased by lower amount while upgrading from 50->51, compared to 199->200 upgrade. But the nodes are fixed (effect of enhanced Magic node shouldn’t make significant impact, it grows very very slow)

If I would continue with upgrading my glyph lvl56, everytime by 3.1% of increased damage, like it happened with last update, I would end up at lvl200 with Increased damage somewhere around 740% while in fact the glyph will grow to almost 1200% increased damage. With not a single change to nodes. Something is progressive there… I dunno what…

Yeah I also wanted to know on my Necro how much overall DMG on upgrade of ToB adds.
Was not able to do it because I have no idea how the final number is calculated if you add stuff up its higher than it should be by a lot. Maybe its bugged in someway who knows, many things in D4 are different effect vs text.

But it does not surprise me at all since Blizzard math is: 1000 * 40% = 1040

All stat nodes you have in radius of the glyph are multiplicative to each other.

If you have two Normal Nodes, one Maigc Node and one Rare Node in radius at rank 1, you get (1.02 x 1.02 x 1.028 x 1.04) - 1 = 11.23% damage increase intead of 0.02x2 + 0.028 + 0.04 = 10.8%.

Doesn’t seem to work with the numbers he gave. Unless I’m wrong about how rare nodes bonus works.
1.0598^33 * (7/5*0.0598+1)^6 * (35/5*0.0598+1)^2 = 22.16
that is 2116% bonus.

A simpler approach doesn’t fit either:
1.0598^(277/5) = 24.97

Thank you guys, so it seems, that it comes to finding, that the progressive increase comes from bonues to Magic Nodes due to Magic Notes are multiplicative to other nodes. Despite it seems very low, in fact the effect is significant.

I believe we will find out exact formula or confirm the one of HunterKiller… Nice discussion in last comments…

They use slightly different input numbers (34x5, 4x7, 2x10) and the rare bonus is not included in the formula. The result is the same as you’ve posted.

There are max of 34 Normal Nodes, 4 Magic Nodes, and 2 Rare Nodes in level 200 ToB radius when it’s put on Barbarian’s Carnage board (or boards with identical layout on other classes). The bonus stats gained from ToB’s secondary effect on Rare Nodes do not increase ToB damage.

Level 200 ToB max damage increase
1.0598^34 x (1+0.0598x1.4)^4 x (1+0.0598x2)^2 - 1 = 1145.68%
