Thoughts on the campfire

So in summary, a little lackluster.

More nerfs and caps, which some people like but I feel that hard caps nerf the fun.

The seasonal powers seem interesting, I’ll try them on the ptr.

Why buff basic skills? And when will core skills be buffed?

The Nightmare Dungeon changes are okay but fell short of the epic rework I was hoping for.

The changes/additions are not terrible but not that exciting either.

I do like the improved loot quality at higher difficulties.

I’ll try the ptr and make a decision on playing s9 after that.

Well I agree with buffing basic skills. I would like my auto attack to be somewhat still relevant if I invest in them (right now you put 1 point).

Let’s see how they tackle the balance.

I would have like to be able to drop mythics (after 200 duriels/andariels) or legendary runes this season, but alas, it seems patching drop rate takes too much time so they keep it for next season.

Haven’t we done this before though? Next they’ll be telling us ultimates don’t feel fun and powerful and will buff them. Again.
The first guy said now they want everyone to get to T4 no matter what build… after two campfires back saying they only wanted 10 percent there… what are these people doing?!? Whichever side you are on, they’ve now said the opposite of what you wanted to hear.
I will play it when the season comes out, but I think I’m giving up on campfires. I just don’t want to hear it anymore.

Yep, then proceeded to nerf everything so less builds can actually reach T4 and finish the journey.

The only thing I found interesting. S9 seems like a pass.

It went over like a lead balloon. The Youtube comments were brutal.

I didn’t read them but I can imagine😂

They disabled comments on their YT channel - unless you were watching a streamer who was streaming the campfire.

The dude in the dungeon (Adrian?) sounded so bored.

They said S9 will see basic skills adjusted and that other category of skills (like core etc) will be adjusted in seasons after S9, so I suspect it will take them 4-5 seasons to go through it all.

To be fair, they said they want 10% of players to reach T4, not 10% of builds.

They have rendered all sorc builds unplayable. Everyone relied on enlightenment for adequate (not op, not even high!) dmg at t4. It no longer combines your elemental damage boni, instead just taking your highest one. Further the buff to shard of verathiel has been reversed. The hydra build they are pushing for has been further castrated by nerfs to both the familiar gloves and the burning fire passive (its now capped). To whoever’s gonna be playing I wish good luck.

Not that concerned about nerfs because that’s really just a function of how they balance things overall. Overpower got a much needed nerf and that could be a game killer for many or just a change in how one builds based on how they globally tweak monster hp.

Overall I’m pretty excited. Got some fleshed out activities, the seasonal powers are more interesting again. A little more room to be creative with those, I think, but as always that’ll be determined on the PTR.

I hear ya. Seems like we are just in a forever loop now. Buff basics, nerf basics, buff ulitmates, nerf ultimates ,…Need to make that more powerful, oops we went too far so now lets nerf it.

When the game launched, basic skills were just something you used to build enough resource so you could use your core skill. After tempers entered the game that all changed and next thing we knew we had bash barbs, the most mindless one button EZ build ever invented. They rightfully nerfed it but now it looks like they are coming back with buffs and a unique.

Dev: we’re nerfing blood wave unique offensive stats because its pants…but we will give barbs a HUGE basic offensive buff on boots.

WHAT? That makes NO sense at all.

Can’t blame players for going for the easiest build that does the most damage, but this is just more proof the devs have no idea what game they want. And as a player that’s been here since the beginning, it’s getting past the point of even caring anymore. I might check it out for a week or so, but I’m through spending too much time on a game that two years post launch can’t figure out its identity.

It was very high when enlightenment was up and unplayable damage when it was not vs anything that has any health. If they do their job correctly, it should be a nice little increase when its up but your entire playsession shouldnt be revolving around gaming this buff.

4 or 5 seasons just to buff core skills Jesus Christ. Alright, I’m logging off till season 15 or whatever.

Season 15 core skills reborn. God almighty. Let the meteors come.

Pretty sure Meteor does count as a core skill. Nicely done! :white_check_mark:

fun was detected and then nerfed into oblivion.

oh blizzard, never change >.>

as i said for s8, they are desperately trying to slow us down so we think there is more content than there actually is.

another season with no end game in sight.

gg!

(not really).

Aha, it was very high if you were playing an s or a tier build. But there has not been any compensation. So now it does no damage at all times, aka its “purrrfectly balanced”. Ffs even with enlightenment in s8 you could not play a normal ice shards build even with buffed verathiel, and had to resort to playing azurewrath proc with lucky chance. They have no idea how their game actually works.

Im good with it. But then again, i like always like the game. Sue me.

Its just not all the nerfs that they did as season 8 went on it was the NPC modifiers they added in the game. You see some with damage reduction, health gain, the one I hate most monster barrier there were more I saw but cannot type it as of now. You run into Mr. Fresh Meat lately and saw how longer it took to kill just on Torment 1?? Oh yeah and how more busted up Lilith became when you do have BOSS powers and over 21k-32k atk and in the green of all res. and still you do less damage. It felt like D3 relying on * gear the more you got the better your chances are no matter if you reached the atk, def, int, wpw and paragon route. Seems they went backwatds again to doing Primal Epics in D3 but you need all **** in slots.
