Thank you for telling me about this. It was very helpful!
If some people want to treat their game as a job I couldnât care less.
My feedback to your examples:
-
Having an auto fail event would take away from people legitimately failing to complete the event due to lack of damage or under geared. This renders their time spent on said event null and void. So if no gains are given the events will just be skipped for the easier ones leaving a lot of them untouched. Or tons of people just gathering under specific easier ones.
-
Having a limit on obol per day is a bad design decision and most everyone would hate it as it is one of the ways you farm gear in the end game. Just lessen the amount given after x events done each day. So you static the amount per event well say 20 obols per event then after 10 events in that 24hour period you only get 5 obols. This would remove the âfeedingâ of obols that you are afraid of happening on live.
These numbers are just for example they could run the numbers and find out what would be too much and what would be to little for the time spent. Like maybe 50 obols per event for first 10 events that day then 5 obol per event after that until next day. Or 10 obols for 100 events that day and after those 100 it drops to 1 obol per event.
- Layer spamming is the byproduct of a online game that is not instanced in any way other than the dungeons. The real issue is not people layer spamming the events its that they are on a timer and respawn without interruption and they are static so they never move from their spawn location. What they should do is put every event on a âreset eventsâ option that you can only use once every 10 minutes or 20minutes that allows you to redo an event at x,y location of the map.
Make the time for resetting the events long enough where someone could run around that area well say âact 1â, do all the events in that area solo and by the end the timer would be up for them to reset the events in that area. This prevents layer spamming by only allowing x number of events per x timeframe to be completed. The reset timer for the events would also transfer per act so you cant layer spam all acts to bypass the timer and the amount of events should be equal in each act. So for example:
Act 1 has 25 events
Act 2 has 25 events
So on so forth
IMO and ideal timer should be set to around 1 hour so if you solo ran to every event location in 1 act and did each event it would take you 1 hour (this comes to 25 events taking 2 minutes tops a piece plus walk time to each one which is about 60minutes total). Meaning you could reset and go again in another act or redo the same act. So for the layer spammers sure they could do all 25 events in 20 minutes or less but since all acts would use the same event timer to reset them to be able to do anymore for any reward is still 1 hour and they have to wait.
They would also have to make it so that if you are in a party with someone that has done 0 events and you did all 25 already, you can do them with your teammate but you wont get any rewards but your teammate that isnt on a timer will. Hence stopping the âfeedingâ you are speaking about with the layer spamming.
Let me know what you think =P
Edit: Almost forgot to you know that âafkâ farming of events issue to, that would also be fixed since they would only get exp and rewards from 25 events per hour. So anyone afk farming them would not benefit after they do 25 of them because they would have to click the âreset eventsâ button. Cant do that if they are âafkâ, like asleep with spoon on controller or putting popsicle stick to hold down a key while sitting on top of an event spawn location.
Or they could simply increase the amount of legendaries found by playing the game normally or decrease the chance of obtaining them using obals.
Yea but then you hurt legitimate players that arnt âcheesingâ the game mechanics.
Couldnât they just make it so that any time someone joins a group all party members are instantly put in a new layer?
Honestly it seems like so much work for people to rig the game in these ways. It would just suck the fun out of it for me.
Well see thatâs the problem is having all these separate layers. You start on layer 1 not in a party do event 1 at location x,y (well use the one right outside main town) then tp to town. Then join your buddy now you are on his layer well call it layer2 he hasnt done event at location x,y that you did so you walk outside town and do the event again right away. Rince repeat with idk 5 6 7 8 10 buddies, by the time you get back to the first guys âlayerâ, the events on layer 1 have already reset.
Then each buddy has their own âeventâ location at x,y they are doing while you do yours and everyone joining leaving parties constantly to get the layer they need to constantly redo the event at their x,y location. Limit the maximum able to be completed every hour through all areas/acts/zones/whatever you wanna call them and you stop the problem.
I thought you couldnât get a second set of rewards by doing this. Perhaps I misread somewhere
I dunno. In D3, I wasnât particularly thrilled (i.e., did not expect much) from spending blood shards at Kadala. She was certainly useful in the early game but not so much by endgame.
Nobody is going to be âlayer hoppingâ for basic events lol, especially when the respawn timer on standard events is sub 5m, there is a few places I can think of where all you need to do is run a short distance between event locations and you can farm quite easily, basically by the time 1 event ends the previous is ready to go again.
Limiting Obols is a braindead idea I hope devs never do, the chance of even getting anything from Obol merchants is already abysmally low without making more gates.
Behaviours we have witnessed in beta are not likely to be replicated in the full release because there will undoubtedly be more profitable and efficient ways to do things.
Thereâs a max level. So itâs not like spending 10000 hours grinding a single character will provide infinite power to it. Whether you want to play for 4 hours a week or 100 hours a week shouldnât matter, and you shouldnât be capped and not allowed to progress further if you want to, just because some butt hurt individual feels bad that heâs ânot as goodâ as they are. Work on your own character, and stop worrying about and trying to control what other people do.
Nobody is worried about other people characters, my guy. We are worried about them using a broken game mechanic to spam events that give exp gold items AND obols. Which is an advantage over people that are legitimately playing the game like intended.
This is what a lot of people want. This is how RMT is done in D3 already (invite customers to the group)
So instead of trading they want this; paid services.
You literally just said. âNobody is worried about other peopleâs characters, my guy⌠weâre worried about how other people play their characters.â
Who cares how many obols someone else gets. They canât trade the stuff theyâre using. They canât sell it. It doesnât effect you. People get to max level at different speeds. If you feel that you have to exploit something because other people are, that says more about you than them. Worry about how you play your game, and quit trying to play gameplay police.
I theory I also donât care about others, but practically individual exploits impacts everyone since that player will become OP very quickly and people will complain about OP build, which will cause nerfs.
Really? It was so easy to get blood shards late game though. I would just farm a bunch and then buy from her whatever I needed to make all my sets I needed. Pretty useful at late level when you have enough currency to buy in bulk.
No sir you cant read and even posted with my post quoted and still didnt get my 2nd sentence correct. As others have said it gives an advantage over legitimate player. Exploits cause build nerfs, players being bullied in PVP areas by said exploiters because clearly they will be such a challenge vs someone thats been exploiting the game.
Or you are trying to get in a party to do a world boss and they inspect you and see you cant hold your own because you didnt exploit like they did, they kick you and you never find a party because this becomes the norm in the game forcing others to use said exploit just to compete.
You are crying about people leveling faster than you. Having better gear than you. And gatekeeping. Guess what, that is going to happen regardless. People who bought deluxe editions are going to have a 4 day head start⌠itâs not fair. Some people are going to find expedited ways of gaining loot, itâs not fair. And in a couple weeks most people will be max level. Some will have better items than others, and no one will be able to tell how anyone played at all.
But youâll still be here, sucking on your thumb, crying about how people are better than you and itâs not fair.
All I can say is that Iâve only ever had fun playing any Diablo version, and Iâve played them all, is when playing with friends.
There is no doubt that there are huge amounts of power gained by doing so. I agree with that point absolutely.
All I can say is that playing a gambling game with obols is small potatoes compared to that. I will tell other group members âHey, Iâm playing an eventâ in case another party member is not busy doing something else.
But if the game incentivizes groups to go through the effort you described, the easiest cure is increase legendary drops by playing the game normally and decrease the chance of obals providing legendaries.
But you know what? By playing in a group, weâll still come out ahead because I can give stuff I donât want to another player in my group.
There has always been an advantage in every single Diablo game by playing in a group.
