This lag is literally murder!

Just failed out a Pit mission cuz the lag is so extreme. The fact posts like this go back to last year is nuts. Why are we still, x1 year later, having rubber banding, massive lag, etc? I thought Microsoft was a big company, can they not afford servers?!?

Sadly I have to disagree with this post, I play on a ps5 and have not experienced any lag this season with the exception of what I would consider normal right after logging in. I am retired and play from 9am est to 10pm est.

My console is hard wired with decent internet. I’m also not playing a class with a teleport or multi-dash. All of that does matter in a game that is 100% online.

Hope you get it figured out though, nothing feels as bad as lagging in a game and not being able to figure out why.

I agree with Leprkun, this is the first season I haven’t really lagged anywhere on PS5, with cross play enabled. I was able to get rid of lag in past seasons by disabling cross play.

I haven’t really had any lag issues… until yesterday with the rubber banding, but it’s the day before the offline maintenance so maybe that has something to do with my issue.

It’s not the servers, it’s your trash canadian internet. I’m on “xb series x” and 1.2Gb internet hardwired. What lag?
The only time I see any framerate drop is when I’m doing Helltide event with 6 other players. Not even lag, just hardware has hard time rendering everything.

I play on Xbox Series X and I have a 500 MB connection (Canadian internet to boot!) and play on Wi-Fi, and I don’t have lag either.

“Canadian” internet isn’t trash.

Yea…client crashed twice following maintenance.

Yeah, just now did a speed test, 50+ MBPS. D4 is the ONLY GAME that has this kind of lag issue. Even tested on D3, fine. Yet again, just now, did yet another Pit mission, and failed out cuz of the rubber banding, the intense lag, etc. This is totally unacceptable for a 2024 game to be having lag issues. This isn’t Diablo 2 in the 90’s on free Battle Net through AOL. Also it’s super nice some of you get to have the privilege of being directly connected onto the landline; not everyone has that. I also had to 100% abandon the Greater Rift…errr, the “Pit” I was doing, because of this insane, massive lag making the boss fight literally impossible.

Well you’re still here whining so I guess there was no “literal murder.”

I did have a few lag spikes earlier on a wired PS5 connection with gigabit fiber, but usually on PS5 I don’t have many issues.

Lag is so subjective, it’s hard to pinpoint the reason sometimes. It could literally be from a squirrel chewing on your internet wire.

Again, it may not be your download. It could be your upload, and since your saying rubberbanding I would assume it is an upload issue. So telling us you have 50+mb is not telling us a lot at all. You could have horrible upload speed and nice download speed, or you could have great both speeds and lots of packet loss and speed test won’t show you that. You could also have a bad Ethernet cable, or be on some crazy internet like Verizon and T-Mobile which actually run on a cellphone network which will show good speeds with no loads, but as soon as you start gaming and someone else is streaming in your nieghborhood you lose all speed.

Stop blaming the game, and start figuring out the real problem. If you come to the forums and you are on or 2 people complaining about something, maybe that something isn’t the problem, maybe the problem is… well you.

Just to be clear, I am not being mean or combative even though it does sound that way, I’m trying to help you understand other causes for your problem.

I wouldn’t trust blizzard to butter my bread let alone make a game that runs smooth. Blizz is always rebalancing classes and skills. They’ve had over a year to figure it out since it launched. Fighting games dont even get these many balance patches. Be better blizzard. Please just be better…

Just wanted to come in here with an update: Turning cross network play off fixed the problem.

So, no sorry it was NOT my problem, my net, or anything. It was some issue w/ having other players online, that was causing that massive, horribly lag that made the game literally unplayable.

I’m glad you got your issue resolved.

Note I, and many others, use cross network play, so it’s entirely probable the issue is still on your end.

Turning it off would reduce the amount of traffic the game would use of your internet, so that’s more likely the saving grace here.
