Battle.NET has been crashing repeatedly today. The first time it crashed I was opening the map. Second time porting to town. Third time sending a message on clan chat.
Twice it’s reported that the application ran out of memory. Another time it tried to perform an illegal operation. As far as I can tell the application hasn’t changed in days. Something it’s doing between client/server seems to be causing the problems.
Update: It’s getting worse. Last 3 times I’ve tried launching Diablo IV the Battle.NET application crashes before I can even log in to the game. I’m taking a break… I’ll try again in about an hour and see if I can actually log in for a change. Though given the “stellar” nature of Blizzard I kind of doubt it.
More updated: Well I got back into the game and played a whopping 5m minutes before it crashed this time. This game is a steaming pile of horse droppings. And Blizzard pretends that there’s nothing seriously wrong with it.
That would be an awesome suggestion… if Battle.NET wasn’t so broken that it’s crashed the last two times I’ve tried logging into D4. Guess I’m not playing today. Unless someone at Blizzard realizes there’s a problem and decides to do something about it. I give that about a 50-50 chance. Ugh.
It seems that is is a graphics setting. For most of the day yesterday (06/22), as DT is aware, I was periodically crashing to the desktop. I tried all kinds of graphic setting based on my experiences with other games. All involved downgrading some aspect.
However, in another thread (frame rate limiting - I think), someone mentioned that there was a problem w/ this approach.
So I set my graphics to max (Ultra) and it’s been stable for several hours now.
