I am playing on Veteran, I have half my gear as legendary, focused on Whirlwind, everything takes forever to kill. I just spent 45 minutes on a Dungeon, because I cannot do any damage no matter what I choose or how I craft my build, and upgrading gear is both expensive and pointless.
I made it to the Blood Baron boss, got disconnected. Awesome. Wow.
Barbarian is not fun. It can’t do damage, it can’t survive, or both.
diablo was never meant to be easy or a walk in the park. I will never look forward to a walk in the park diablo 4.

Game is ridiculously easy, too easy.
I think these people playing the game are just bad. Terribly bad.
There isn’t much to say. WW isn’t bad, and the video proves it. It literally takes 30-60 seconds to go from “WW is bad to, oh, I guess it’s not.”
So if my barb is 1shotting almost everything in the game, and your barb is dying and doing no damage. Is it the games fault or something else?
Its because people want their preferred build to work, and if it doesn’t they cry that its undertuned.
The picture we’re getting isn’t even 25% painted. I’d say 10-15% at best. So hard to make any judgements on up to level 25. Just because a class is performing well in the early game doesn’t necessarily mean it will translate to the same results later game.
Depends on how you build the Barb. I’ve been playing around with stuff the past couple of days and it just depends on where you put things and the order you use your skills.
My barb is clearing stuff really easily and fury generation is insane. I’ve died twice with the build I’m trying out today but it was from getting stuck/freezing/stuttering.
No, your barb is optimized with gear gathered during hours of play. Its your fault for comparing apples to oranges and acting elitist about it as well.
Those who talk about imbalance are comparing untwinked runs with different characters and that shows an enormous difference.
I don’t know how well a sorc can do with all optimized gear and how the balance is then (probably balance is not even a thing to talk about since the game at current difficulty level will not pose any sort of challenge to either char)
Maybe the barb is more gear dependent and the balance is fair (or even in barb favor) when both chars are min maxed. But its 2023 now, 3 decades of developing diablo games should be enough for devs to find ways to make both mellee and caster classes roughly equal in gear depency.
As you are a diablo vet. You should know what stats priority for barbarian are. Look at your gear then decide again what build you should put together. Because we don’t have very much way to reroll stats on gear.
I was on the barbarian sucks band wagon, until I perfected my build this weekend. Now my damage is crazy, unfortunately at the moment, you have to focus on thorns and bleeds.
I still left Whirwind, as my AOE since I got 2 legendaries for it, one that spawns tornadoes, and one that increases the crit change. But you get your thorns high enough and enemies just kill themselves.
I used this build, but customized it a bit for my taste and the gear I have. You won’t be out DPSing any Sorcs or Necros but makes Barbarian much more playable.
The thread title is literally “This is how bad Barbarian is”.

why are people using whirlwind? It has got to be the most boring skill ever invented for barb? Just spinning? When you can leap, ram, kick, smack things with HoA. setup for big upheavals. nah you wanna spin around just holding a button…
I’ve never understood the appeal of WW Barb either, but people do like it.
The point is, it’s more than viable, so the complaining about it isn’t warranted.
I’m pretty much a Diablo noob and was trying all the skills since respec is easy/free.
Whirlwind is the dumbest skill possible. You just spin around and don’t do much damage. Much better to focus on skill target with other skills, whether it’s bleed or other.
with the proper gear yes it is. But picking a low dmg skill with comparatively high fury cost and whine your early game sucks is just… you want dmg? start with reading the tooltips…
