This is an MMO, not an ARPG

…Quest: Go help an npc pick flowers…Follow up: Escort npc to her mom, to give her said flowers…Watch the rejection, as that was probably the most Diablo thing up to the point, add in some infernal outburst for color…Later quest: Collect livers…Me: Wait a minute, I’ve been here before flashback to all the boars I’ve killed in WoW, so many boars, so few livers

Yeah I prefer D2s quests less of them and better rewards

It is actually both. People like to overlook the amount of work that went into the world building, just so they can run dungeons for loot.

But this game is a nice Hybrid that does both. It doesn’t need to be POE. If that is what you want, you are in luck that game already exists. Just bland maps, no story and dungeons and loot. I play it, not really what I want here considering what they started with.

I have been playing this doing a little bit of everything and I am still enjoying it.

Sadly I have managed to turn my Sorc into a one button POE spam build.

I mean, the genre stated for Diablo 4… is Action role-playing, hack and slash

So that makes you factually wrong.

Was no action in picking flowers, and if collecting livers isn’t a WoW trope (right up there with collecting/sifting through nps crap), then I don’t know what is lol. Visible fact trumps a label any day.

It is an open world, single player, mmo-arpg hybrid, which has no group tools and minimal social features. It doesn’t really have any clue what it is, I’m not sure it is anything that has existed before.

That makes the statement misleading.

then again is realy a bad thing that it is different from most other arpgs out there, I think it is good that they trying out something new kind of.

This is a mix concoction of bad juju. It’s not a proper ARPG with MMO elements, it’s not a proper MMO without proper MMO features.

I wish this were an MMO. If this were an MMO, there’d be actual dedicated multiplayer content…instead of none.

To me, this game feels like it was going to be an MMO, and then all the MMO-ness got scrapped, leaving us with an online singleplayer game.

But without any of the social/community aspect of an MMO :frowning:

Oh hoho! You like to chat and trade in your arpg/mmo/whatever tf this thing is? Naaa, we don’t do that here, and could only do half of that in D3… well, if you counted the early days of the AH “trading”, but they sure put an end to all that lol.

Are you talking about the quest where she picks flowers and you have to defend her from demons? Or is that the chime one? They’re similar and I already forgot.

I think this would have merit if the story was better in D4 than it is.

Bosses aren’t repayable. (Campaign bosses are mainly reskins from dungeons anyways)
Acts I-IV are meaningless. Spend all this time to get an item just to beat the person down anyways
Events hold no story
side quests are mostly unconnected

all that is left is dungeons and loot

I will NEVER understand why there’s no world chat in this. Why make this a shared-world online game with literally ZERO multiplayer focused content?

I wish they would decide what this is, because right now is nothing. Is not an arpg, and is bearly an MMO, even so is more MMO, but has no social aspect or chat to even be able to make groups.

This game is no way, shape or form an MMO. It feels like it was maybe at one point intended to be one, but there is no MMO in this now.

I have not yet played an arpg, that there was quests, collect x amount of hearts or kill y amount of something else. And then we need to redo most of this in seasons…
