Next time I buy a game from blizz it will be 5 + years after launch if I even decided to buy one.d4 was an ok game til that big nerf this and nerf that patch and now I can’t even force myself to play it cause it’s same thing over and over.

It’s not the nerfs that have killed the game.
It’s the desperate scramble for the Uber Meta Grind coupled with the fact that you can’t respec your skill tree for a bit of variety like in D 3.

So they making a patch to fix the patch they released that made everyone quit? Why didn’t they just not to the first patch?

The reason for the first patch wss to tone down some of the OP stats which just merfed everything sonce it is a whole ecosystem and not just one or two items that make up the stats. The people who actually play the game was not happy in action since it nerfed every aspect and not just the pne or two items that they focused on. If D4 had a seperate testing server like D3 did, they could get some valuable feedback before implementation. Sibce thos is a live steam game they did not think that way. Bow Blizzard is going to post the patch notes before implementation so people are aware of the fixes coming before hand.

They gave back 95% of what was nerfed through seasonal bonuses, hearts and affixes. The only real issue I have with it is that it kind of bones the eternal player and pushes them into seasonal to recuperate that power.
Still imagine our power on seasonal without the nerfs. This would be near D3 levels of absurd with the added offensive and defensive hearts. This tell me that the baseline game we played in preseason was way off.
Whether this was intentional or not we may never know. It’s entirely possible that they let us be OP in preseason to generate more hype and buzz about the game.
Also keep in mind they wee transparent that seasonal content would take the average player ~80 hours to complete the BP. Not the season journey, but the BP. With our preseason power it’s possible we could have blown through the BP in a fraction of that time. They had to extend playtime or the backlash for a 20-30hr season would have been just a bad.
They had multiple beta tests to get this right and they error was limiting the betas to such a small portion of the game. I get it they don’t want to give the whole game away for free, but any preorder should have had access to WT3 at least to better see the balance of the game and how the powerful items and skills would interact. That was a bit of a miss and partially to blame for why we are where we are today.
Quite simply they over promised and under delivered. Someone needs to temper their hype machine going into S2. The game as it stands currently is mostly OK and could be great if they ever settle on a baseline that is fair to all players.

The Patch addresses very few of the issues with the game though. Pretty sure this should have been in early access for a couple years before deciding it was a “full game” to release. I am curious if there are metrics for this game anywhere. Concurrent players and what not. Would be very interesting to see.

- eternal server is not killed. They get new leggo’s. You’re not forced to play season.
And most importantly. - SEASONS HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE D2! Around 22 years ago.
The only thing new with d4 seasons really is ash buffs, and ability to buy a premium pass purely for cosmetics.

Yeah it definitely has issues thats for sure. They are taking and doing a good patch tomorrow, after finally admitting their stupidity with nerfs. But you need to stop being delusional.
