This game can't handle a lot of enemies on the screen at the same time

Whenever I am surrounded by TONS of enemies, usually spiders that are exploding into more spiders, and I am obliterating all of them, my screen ALWAYS stutters in some way.

This game clearly can’t handle it which is probably why they had reduced the enemy density at launch.

It gets so bad in a full group doing a big event in a helltide or something too.

Terrible.

we are all, always surrounded by enemies. be wary.

Sounds like a potato PC issue, I don’t get any stutters.

Whether PC (3080, 32gb RAM) or PS5 I’ve rarely encountered this issue.

I don’t get any stuttering because of this and each of my characters is constantly getting swarmed, often to the point that between the multitudes of monsters and all of the damage numbers everywhere I lose sight of of them.

This is especially true with my main character, she’s level 100 CE/CL/UC sorc and is always moving.

Does your system meet the technical requirements for this game?

Lower shadow and water reflection settings

I have a 3080 TI and an 11700k.

It is not my PC I assure you.

This is the only game with these issues.

I have a regular old 3080 and an 11700k so we are very close, I’m not getting stuttering.

I don’t know what might cause that, I hope it gets better for you.

They have definitely turned up the spawns a lot though lol. It was a nice balance with the nightmare / Helltide changes from S1 but now there are so many enemies that what each one is doing as a unit basically doesn’t matter lol.

I fixed that for you.

Game can’t handle multiple Lightning Ball Sorcs either.

Becomes a slide show for me when 2-3 in the area are spamming. Kind of embarrassing.

Yep big frame drops with lots going on.

The performance and servers for this game are horrible.

Try turning your max limit for CPU down in Power Settings. Before I turned down to 90% the game was pegging my CPU into oblivion specifically in events like you mention (blood harvest boss). Its totally stable now. Rad hardware doesnt matter if the software isnt optimized. Yes it is the game. but you can probably compensate to have a smoother experience. Might now work at all… Just an option to try.

For me it’s not the amount of enemies, it only happens to me in the “outdoor” dungeons but no stutter in the regular dungeons or open world.

In windows power settings?

No stutters here…
Perhaps the Problems are in your Side…

Yes, go to Power Settings, then change advanced power settings. In there under “Processor Power Management” is Max processor state. Drop MAX to 90% and test.

Use DDU and reinstall your drivers. Stacking drivers causes issues, especially with this game. And especially if you upgraded and still have old drivers on your system.

Follow Jayz2cents guide. D4 has been so smooth since I did a fresh driver install. It takes like 10mins to do.

My specs is way below yours and I don’t get stutters, jumped into 5 packs of suppressor with plenty of white mobs no issues, only time it freezes was the first few seconds when I teleported somewhere via the waypoint to town, something that only happened this season.

Pretty sure it’s something to do with your PC.

Whenever I install a new driver I click Clean Installation which removes the previous one.
