If it’s AI by nVidia, we might not have much to worry about, at least if Jensen Huang is running the show. If you’re wondering why I just said that, watch this Gamers Nexus video. You’ll get it at the 1:05 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlWT_TdOK6s
I forgot all about the starcraft AI stuff. And even back than AI was kind of crap compared to what it is today. Back than it took an entire research department training a model to do specifically one task, now it’s just so silly simple you can do it at home! (Or ironicly make an AI train itself or with another AI), crazy world.
hahahahahahahahahaha
Careful not to draw attention to that, you’ll get pinged for harassment.
Just to play devil’s advocate here (because that’s really all we are doing), the term advantage in the TOS can be interpreted as any form of distilled information from any source that accelerates actionable and informed decisions. To this end, even things like the helltides website is considered an advantage regardless of how the information is presented; the fact that the information was gathered by a community of players in game rather than a software program to be cataloged and distributed to uninformed players that did not need to interact with the game (e.g. visit each potential location personally) is a very fine line to walk when it comes to defining unfair advantages. For example, if it were behind a paywall, Blizzard would have a case to shut them down or at least make it accessible to all. At some point it becomes a question of whether it’s worth pursuing, however, and this example would certainly not apply to individual consumers (e.g. no instant bans on opening 5 helltide chests in an hour or whatever is deemed impractical through unassisted gameplay).
On the other hand, the term advantage also implies competition often in the form of an acknowledged player contract such as opting into leaderboards, PvP, or races (none of which are active currently with the exceptions of PvP zones). Despite being marketed as a MMO, I find the game is really more of a single player game than anything else and would be hard pressed to define what exactly one would be in competition for in order to qualify actions as advantageous.
The helltides website technically falls under the category of cheats as written in the TOS quoted above. While you can argue that it’s a small leap between a dual monitor and an overlay, the company does have a right to draw a line where they see fit. The gray area in between is what we term “quality of life” features.
I don’t think I believe it bro… You sure he wasn’t botting? That was one of the only ways to get banned in that game. Same as D2 as far as I know.
You can search online for yourself, no one has ever showed proof of being banned for T-HUD alone (as far as I know). The guys who claim it were usually the ones who were botting paragons.
lmao what…
I love when people post ignorant things like this thinking they have some higher understanding of the law. Please bring on a case against blizzard because you broke their TOS and got banned.
For overcharging for games? What does that have to do with TOS? You’re comparing consumer protection and gouging to someone using a third party app that violates TOS lol.
ATT and T-mobile also lost their defense of EULA/TOS.
Bro, they got in trouble for having a ridiculous contracts from disallowing class-wide arbitration, so they got sued to take that part out lol. Are you just throwing random class actions out that you find on google to try and relate them to a game company not allowing 3rd party apps in their game?
Yes! But if an addon only allows you to look at builds while still being able to access your skills and paragon trees just a QoL thing? Map overlays that point out chests, elites and such which give one an unfair advantage in game play should be banned as should players who use them. A QoL addon should not IMO. My windows key is ketting worn out switching back and forth between my browser and D4 LOL
late to the convo but as of me writing this, they said they wouldn’t do it. They claimed that there was more important stuff to do. Which is their normal lie that they don’t want to do it.
I’m just looking now for an overlay that can help like when things are about to happen or pop up. Like something to replace having to go to Helltides every so often
- Does it show Altars of Lilith you have not discovered?
- Does it show potential Event locations?
- Does it show potential Quest locations and drops?
- Does it show Waypoints and markers even with Fog?
- Does it eliminate map Fog?
- Does it show undiscovered locations inside Dungeons and all Objectives in Dungeons?
- Does it show all Hell Tide Chest locations including Mystery Chests?
If the answer to any of those questions is “Yes” that is the problem. Do I agree with it? Not entirely. If 3rd Parties can make Maps because you have a static world, it should just be built in the game. While I would love Dungeon maps showing everything so I do not have to waste my time, I can see if they do not want what amounts to MapHack in the game.
Altars of Lilith are just dumb and should never have been included in their current form. Horizontal Progression should be tied to playing the game. The Altars should be changed to work similar to how Grim Dawn Totems work and be randomly generated the locations they spawn. These Totems should be able to spawn waves of increasingly difficult enemies, provide Blessings, Materials, or even gear drop.
Blizzard should just introduce a Build Planner to the game that you can Export and Import Builds into and is more robust than d4builds or any 3rd Party Tool. It should have a Leveling Feature that once you have created a Build, it Highlights the next Skill and/or Paragon based on the order you planned your character.
