It’s a company that actively punishes its players for NOT logging in and playing one of their games. They lie by selling us the hope that the next title in a beloved franchise will be what the players want while simultaneously using psychologists and other professionals to make sure that the game is addicting as possible. They know that the more people play the more they’ll get the FOMO and probably buy some pixels for 1000 platinum or whatever currency they make up to change the perception of the actual money you’re spending. That’s not $20, that’s 2000 platinum! They also know it’s easier for your parents to to spend $5 - $10 on something they don’t even care about just to get your little brother to shut up for two seconds.
You either care about this or you don’t. I care because I love the franchise and I want to see it evolve in a good way so that it’s worthwhile to logon and play as opposed to now where I play so that I at least get the FEELING of having received my money’s worth. Some of you seem to have forgot that the people with the complaints who are expressing them have spent the same money you have on the game. Just because you’re personally okay with the whole situation does not mean that it is a good situation nor does it invalidate the opinions of people who see the problem.
There are very little consumer protections in the gaming industry and these people prey on it. Your game isn’t being funded by the devs who want to make the best game possible, at least not in this instance. It’s being paid for by people who are interested in a return on their investment as soon as possible. Video game development is a higher risk, so they want that money back yesterday, regardless if the product is actually finished or not. I can’t even really think of another product that you buy unfinished and wait for the company to send you the rest of it when they can be bothered.
Personally I’m not spending another penny on this game and if you really want to see some change then you will do the same.
