"The Virgin" run dungeon season content Vs "The Chad" make raids

Lost Ark and Destiny showed how you can make small group content outside of the holy trinity (Healer, tank, dps)

I am still getting the game for the story sake but idk 10 years of seasons, just getting dungeons with affixes is so much wasted potential.

The only con, i can truly think about are those people that dont want any MMO aspects at all, which make the raids soloable with the same “gear” but clearly the group version is better loot.

Destiny is more or less a gungame and a terrible comparison. Lost Ark is also played completely differently with each raid unlocking a higher tier of loot.

Why?

There’s simply no reason to add raids. Their time can just be much better spent adding almost anything else to the game. You know that even if they add raids they are going to be similar to world bosses in that anyone who knows how to do it will find it to be a joke.

If you’re a solo dolo player, why do you need group loot to do solo content.

Oh yeah I’m sure hyped for starting over level 1, and running dungeons where all the skeletons are on fire … so creative and engaging content.

Lost Ark raids are literally just about doing the boss mechanic and then attack during the damage window. The bosses dont even deal any significant damage outside of their one-shot mechanic and that already is a terrible design.

It was such a terrible experience to wipe everytime on a raid in Lost Ark because some people just couldnt get the mechanic right and then we had long discussions about going further or ending it right there and look for a new group.

So i am fully against raids, because to make a dungeon become a raid there have to be those one-shot boss mechanics and i wont trust randoms to get it right.

Because running the same bosses in 2-3 raids, the same boss twice in the guardian raids, and the 2 chaos dungeons, that are pitifully easy to the point bots can do them on their own, are great content that makes me want to come back.

Even if they added raids, one of two things would happen. They would either be the best way to farm and everybody would do them constantly and we’d have the greater rift problem from D3, or they wouldn’t be worth the time and people may do them once for novelty or a weekly reward or something and never do them outside of that. Does that sound like something worth putting time into developing? I could see having benchmark bosses like in PoE that are more for showing off your build than farming, but that’s about it.

To you maybe. Ffxiv has “dance” style bosses and people love the design in that game too. You also seem to be coming from this in the perspective of being able to memorize patters and visual queues. Let me tell you, a lot of people are bad at that. Im somewhere in the middle. It takes me a while to get the rythm down. That is what makes it fun to me. I know people who still cant even do the pizza slice mechanics. Even after learning, i still had fun in the old raids.

I love how Bliz simply said that they like the idea of being able to do the world bosses as a 12 man group instead of only a 4 man group +8 randos, and now everyone is running with this idea that D4 will be designed around raid content and leave solo players behind.

Stop thinking that clickbait youtube titles actually mean anything.

FF14 also has a lot of resurrection skills. FF14 uses the holy trinity.

Its fine that you need to take a while to get the rythm down how to do the boss mechanics, but then i want practice runs for people like you and not you in the team of a real run just for you to fail at it. Because that is not fun for me and evidently it wasnt fun for the majority of the teams in Lost Ark either.

Yea… if they do add it, as someone who would do it, it should have the same gear as every other part of the game.

That doenst make it poor design though. Are you implying that any game that you can memorize a pattern on is poorly designed? Thats how people get good at games like osu, ddr, beat saber, etc.

Having ubers like PoE would be fine, they have important mechanics that are just fine solo, see Maven’s memory game. Just way less ground degens than PoE and don’t make us too dependent on movement skills since our skill slots are limited and some classes outright don’t have them. Let it be easier in a group too, but never make it require one.

I really hope Raids to be the endgame progression, but with a holy trinity.

That way the game could become a more linear progression system instead of those time wasting season resets.

Memorizing patterns is quite standard for every videogame and no, i never even said that memorizing patterns in a game is a poor design choice.

I said that a boss fight, where the boss doesnt do any significant damage outside of one-shot boss mechanics, is a terrible design choice. Its all about the boss mechanics and if they are failed by just a few people then the whole fight is failed because those bosses arent designed to be beatable by just a few players, but usually by most, if not all, to beat the boss mechanic and that means people have to trust randoms, especially when we have people who dont respect anybodys time and just play for themself by not informing themself before and just learn by failing several times in a row.

yeah there’s a extremely tiny amount of diablo players that want to run seasons for 10 years, but you can be sure as day that they will come roaring in like “im a vegan”, er i mean, “go play another game if you dont like seasons” if you so much as mention new modes of play.
