If I want to upgrade an item to level 1 and I have enough materials to do 14 upgrades but gold for only 2, that big discrepancy means the game isn’t rewarding enough gold to match the material count or that the gold price is too high! Either way is OFF by at least 7 times.
No.
What it means is that you’ve made a choice to always salvage gear and never sell it. That’s why you have so many materials and not enough gold.
If you salvaged half and sold the other half, you’d have more than enough gold.
It’s just a choice.
Dude, I am not stupid, I went the other way and started selling everything I get my hands and still isn’t enough. The gold from completing any tasks in this game and from loot isn’t enough to keep with the upgrades, it lags behinds substantially.
At level 25 you’re getting like 1000g per item. That’s 36,000 gold for a full inventory, plus the massive amounts of gold from quests. How are you running out?
I upgraded my ‘end’ weapon 4 times, added a socket, and changed a bonus.
It takes grinding.
EDIT
The fourth takes 270K
From what I’ve seen, the cost is a LITTLE bit high… but that’s because it’s to boost the power of an item. In early game, I’m sure as hell not gonna be spending resources to max out a weapon that I’ll be replacing in an hour. I’d imagine that if they lowered it be 10% of what it currently is, it would be a much better balance for people who wanna sit around in starter area gear for their entire play, while still making it something that people in late game have to actually give some thought to other than mindlessly mashing the upgrade button.
I am not talking about the time when we reach the “end game” in this case level 25! I am talking the leveling. Gear from drops lags after I would say substantially after the mob scaling and getting a better piece to help with the leveling pace is not as often as it should, skill combos can’t always compensate for that, so the only thing left to fill the gap is the gear upgrades and re-enchanting and they are expensive!
With all due respect I don’t think you’re intended to upgrade every piece of gear you get along the way while leveling.
It’s never necessary to progress, and you’re going to be replacing that gear in 10 minutes anyway.
So we have to sell 250 items in order to get a small damage boost for level 25 weapon! It’s absurd.
What is more absurd is you trying to upgrade all your items for no reason. It’s something to do if you are bored and only want to play D4 rather than something else sure, but it’s pointless for leveling content. If we where not level capped by the time you have the upgrades done you will already replace most of the equipment.
In the actual game, there is no good reason to upgrade your gear before endgame unless you get really lucky with an OP item in the higher levels that will last a while.
Same as 99.9% of all games made, it’s better to wait and save resources on upgrades for end-game content unless you need to do it to actually progress.
Apparently upgrading all the items as I go is not an option as I have learned but even focusing on the weapons is not an option either.
They shouldn’t even have item upgrading until endgame. It’s not worth.
Or remove upgrades completely, since it’s just another grind to waste your time.
Well, obviously you wouldn’t do that much uograding if there was still room to level up.
Can’t go any higher then 25 so 25 is the current end game. I crafted an ‘end game’ weapon within the limitations of the beta and it wasn’t that hard at all.
Nothing absurd here except your post.
Sure the pricing is “fine”, 1k gold reward from completing a side quest, 7k fee to UNSOCKET a level 10 weapon, unsocketing that is FREE in D3, lol poor town folks, like vulture a trying to get every coin they can from the guy who is saving the world!
Are you a newbie? There is no point in upgrading gear at low levels. Replacing you gear every 1 to 2 levels will get you more power than upgrading. The new item you find at the next level will out scale the previous item you upgraded by a significant amount.
Go play Diablo 3, both games work the same way with item scaling and upgrades. Upgrading is for end game items. There is no point in doing it before then.
Yeah I agree and everytime I upgrade a rare item, a better rare item just seems to drop right in front of me which I then swap with the current upgraded one, wasting my gold lol
My gut feel is, we aren’t suppose to constantly upgrade our items unless it has specific skill based bonuses that we wanna keep for the next couple of character levels.
I hope it just feels too high because were are level 25
My friends and I spent plenty of time doing side quests, aspect dungeons, events, and the full main quest as we explored the beta area.
I broke down the cheaper stuff, sold the more expensive stuff and had enough money to upgrade my weapon all four times and then some. And as I said that last upgrade cost 270K by itself.
It can be done.
Now, would you do that much if level didn’t stop at 25? Probably not, but a couple upgrades might get you some extra life out if items with good synergy till you get replacements.
Also keep in mind the value of items stopped going up at level 25 but the costs always stayed the same. This will change in live.
Thus, as the sell value of items goes up as you continue to level up it becomes easier to make the money to craft.
Nah, it’s too high. Nearly everything in the beta is way too pricey, at least for the beta.
You are doing something wrong. I managed to full-upgrade all legos 4x
