The unspoken truth about the sorcerer - Wardrobe

There is only 1 pant in the cosmetics. The rest are skirts!
We need more pants! And also… Combat pants! Party pants! Space pants! The whole shebang!

Yeah, it’s because virtually every set was made for the female body type and they all look ridiculous on the male one. It’s like the devs forgot that we can play the class as both genders now. Literally zero effort was put into tailoring them to the male body.

My fire sorc NEEDS hot pants because her version of hot isn’t hot enough! She needs to cc those mobs with her looks because if they get close to her she gets all moist with her own blood and flames out!

Oh Good I am not the only one with a Male Char that wonders why his available transmog all look like out of a drag queen´s closet. I dont wanna be rude to anyone but must I wear a Veil as a male char because the other option would be a hat from the russian queen made of white fur with some glitter and gold ? I like my male char and can I please get some stuff for him ? and NO not the leather chaps please

No game ever does non-heavy Helms right, and I like seeing my handsome face, so I always hide my hats anyway.

other than that, it’s Wizard robes basically, and I’m good with that. Nothing wrong with a good Wizard robe.

But for the paid cosmetic sets, you can tell that they were originally designed for Female Characters and then modified to also fit on Males. Like the Veils and whatnot kinda give it away. On the other side of that, the Barbarian outfits were clearly designed for Male Characters.

Feels like they were going to gender-lock classes originally and then switched gears to allow either gender to play all classes without enough time to make outfits for both genders. I expect future store updates to be more even in terms of male vs female designed outfits.

Yep after looking closer at all the character creation animations I am convinced that the original plan was to gender-lock the classes and they changed their mind midway through development, but just didn’t make separate animations or Cosmetics for the other gender…which is why in the Character Screen the Male Sorceror has softer more stereotypically feminine animations, while the Female Rogue has aggressive stereotypically masculine ones. Just as examples.

Barbarian, Druid, Rogue were going to be male.

Necro and Sorceror were going to be female.

Most likely.

If that is indeed the case, I’m happy they changed their mind because gender-locked classes SUCK. I’d rather have what we got than gender-lock.

I agree, it’s what soured me on Lost Ark. But they really should have updated the gear visuals, not doing so is just lazy and there is no excuse for that. Not after more than a decade of development.

God that was annoying leveling up, first thing I did was setting up a transmog, there are way too many sorc transmogs out there that makes my bearded sorc look like he is cosplaying a persian princess.

With that said, at the very least the Primal set, the one from character creation, gives some Medivh vibes and look good on male sorc, have been using it since I farmed it.

Oh yeah, the Jasmin vibes are real. Only thing missing is a flying carpet mount.

I use the Doom one. It’s fire themed so it goes perfectly with my build. I like that they added one set for each of the elements but they could have done so much more. Still, it’s early days, fingers crossed.

Btw, that one they’re selling right now with the eyeballs and stuff looks atrocious. At first I didn’t even realize it was a sorc outfit at all. Looks like they changed the update timer on the store to no longer be weekly so hopefully they plan to add new stuff more frequently.

I was wondering about that too. Several of those sets, items look more for Necromancers. I hope we get more elemental themed things for the Sorc.

And generally, I don’t mind the focus on robes. Seems fitting to me. But, hopefully they add more sets for people who are looking something different.

So this seems to be a huge issue with all their classes to a point, they forget they have different genders and all their cosmetics are styled towards one gender over the other, differing for each class. Some classes like the Rogue are pretty balanced, but others like Sorcerer are very unbalanced and overtly feminine and personally Barbarian could use a few more outfits gearing towards females more, not overtly sexy, just not quite so masculine or ill fitting.

As stated earlier, My theory is that their original plan was to have gender-locked classes like every other Diablo game.

Then mid-development they pivoted to allowing both genders for all classes and they just did not spend the development time to create new outfits and animations for the other genders for launch. They just adjusted and rigged what they already had designed and made, in order to fit on the opposite genders.

I’d guess we’ll start getting more balanced cosmetics with Season 1.

It certainly feels that way. But D3 had both genders. Why take a step back? And also they went out of their way very early on to tout how advanced D4’s character customization was. Why call attention to something they knew they had phoned in?

Although to be fair they also showed off all of those amazing looking spell VFX too and basically had that hyper realistic flames on Incinerate as their poster child only to then apparently gate all of those assets behind getting skills to like 20+ or whatever it is (since they refuse to tell us). It will be hilarious in the worst possible way if it ends up that you need to get that unique helm that gives +4 to all skills in addition to all the max +X skill gear to unlock them. And then doubly so if they add those spell skins or even better ones to the in-game shop…

This was intentional. Think of it as virtue signaling or a political statement for trans. Yeah, it kinda pisses me off as well since I’ve been a huge fan of Diablo since the first one dropped back in 96, but apparently there is nothing safe anymore from politics. Nowadays, men can be women… (puke).

The Wizard cosmetics in D3 were decent. Compared to they awful D4 Sorcs cosmetics they are 10/10.
Look at Diablo immortal cosmetics. They are also good. No skirts, no face flaps, no high helms that look like a circus ringmaster, no fortune teller drip, etc.

Yes, we need more of these!

Did Gandolf wear pants? I really don’t know.

Gandalf wasnt really a battle mage like Diablo universe Sorcs/wizards are.
Diablo magic users are more like Sauron.
