Every now and then I take a couple minutes and go through the social tab and check out other Barbarians to compare my stuff to theirs as a quick reference guide, but I’m noticing that almost no lvl 100s are playing anymore, it’s just people leveling up to 100.
If I had to take a wild guess it would be people are bored and burnt out. Burnt out from running vaults, dungeons and probly def sick of grinding Duriel mars only to not get any Ubers. I know cuz I’m one of them. My motivation to play is hanging on an atom width string. I’ve grinded for the past 2 weeks trying to get myself MY FIRST uber, that’s right I still haven’t even got one.
After the runs are done and you haven’t got one it’s almost sobering, realizing that all that time and effort you put in was essentially for nothing. Hours of helltides and hours of whispers for the mats for few minutes of boss fighting that ultimately gave you nothing.
And to add insult to injury blizzard is telling us to hold onto our duplicate uniques. Wow. I’d love to see some statistics on what percentage of the entire player base actually has just one to begin with.
This is no longer Diablo, it’s just Duriel, and he’s a cruel entity. I can appreciate the thrill of the hunt but the problem is the time gate. It’s not like you can just endlessly fight him for your chances, there’s too much time to put in for nothing. The mats should just be removed, let us fight Duriel as many times as we want, the consensus is the season was DOA anyways. I’ve been faithfully playing tho, but I just can’t bring myself to play endless hours a day every day for my few chances at an Uber.
If not remove the mats entirely then they need to rework it so we get way more mats from the specified sources. Like significantly increase the mat drops, significantly.
I just hope the patch’s drop rate bump tomorrow is substantial otherwise…
Now the rains weep o’er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
If they remove mats they will need to significantly reduce drop rates. As it is ubers are not rare just uncommon. They do need to make mats bop and move them into the materials tab tho.
Where are your stats to back up this people leaving on mass claim? Everywhere I go it’s packed with people. I’m currently leveling a druid while I wait for the gauntlet and I’d bet that’s what a lot of people are doing.
I will be honest, a significant drop increase for ubers will have me quitting
The game is already too easy and then any and all grind is gone from the game… at that point i get it, this game is entirely not for me anymore.
Ill play for 1-3 days at the start of each season and quit, literal late stage diablo 3 all over again (i have a ridiculous amount of time played in d3 mind you)
Uber Unique drop rates are a symptom of a greater problem. People are so loudly complaining about them because that’s all there is to do. The game has nothing else to aspire to, other than farming them out. Due to the way they’re implemented (3% from Duriel, 200,000-800,000 times more rare than other Uniques), it’s frustrating when you do 100 Duriels and get nothing. The entire end game loop renders almost all content mandatory, and the only end point of said loop is getting enough Uber Uniques.
Only a tiny fraction of PoE players ever see a Headhunter or Mageblood, yet they aren’t quitting in droves due to not getting these items, nor do they post daily complaint threads asking GGG to buff their drop rates. Same goes for Mirror of Kalandra. PoE has sufficient end game depth to keep you hooked, and avenues that don’t lead to target farming these items.
Did you ever consider that its simply cool to hate on blizzard and not GGG
You get more clicks and make more money by making QQ diablo content than QQ X game content. When you have that content being pumped out and is most of a feed, of course people will repeat it ad nauseum.
What actual end game content is in PoE and how do you get access to it? Do you farm “materiels” to unlock progression to unlock more “materiels” to unlock bosses …
Anyway, it’s odd that they both have progression ladders and one is just considered bad for no real reason
I was thinking about this. Why is it that people feel “entitled” or “expected” to get theese uber uniques compared to PoE where people dont feel that way for the best items. People dont go to the forums en masse complaining that they cant get mirrored items or HH/Mageblood or whatever else is the “top” items.
It’s fascinating to think about the difference in player expectation in this game vs PoE.
I do think the main culprit is that they are target farmable. If they werent on Duriel and just in the global pool, peoples expectations would be vastly different. I think its a mistake to put the accepted best items in the game by a large margin on to farmable bosses.
The other main culprit is the lack of an economy and trade. Think of yourself in real life, you dont go and complain because you cant get that Ferrari… simply because it is EXPENSIVE.
A significant drop rate increase would still have them be chase items. the drop rate for ubers before the patch was 1 in 800,000 uniques. I don’t think we know what it is going to be yet, but even if they made them 100 times more common than they are now, they’d still be very rare. People essentially don’t find ubers outside of the Duriel encounter as they exist currently.
Nothing is stopping you from tossing out your uber that dropped and doing the content over and over again until you feel like its “hard enough”. Its beyond me how people equate rng and grinding with difficulty. Its like saying the lottery is difficult.
Seasonal content (whatever that may be at the time)
Delve
Heist
Maps
Boss fragments (Guardian maps for Shaper/Elder, Conqueror maps for Sirus, adding influence for Maven/Eater/Exarch)
Then there’s just the mechanics you enhance or remove from the maps themselves. If my character is good at Legion, then I buff that mechanic like crazy and shut off most of the others. I then sell Legion Emblems for currency I can use to buy whatever else I’m missing, or I can sell carries with them, as it’s insane EXP/hr to be carried in this way.
If my build is good at doing Uber bosses, then I can sell carries for those, because those builds tend to have awful clear speed, and high clear speed builds tend to be garbage at bossing.
Or, maybe, bear with me on this, PoE is simply a better ARPG?
Honestly, I just think it’s that there’s nothing else to really do in the game. We’re seemingly never getting Gauntlet (two clawed back release dates and counting), and 3% drop rate from Duriel is high enough for people to expect to get them for their build eventually. In PoE, you either speed farm juiced Crimson Temple until your eyes bleed and you drop 5 Apothecary cards, or you farm currency to buy a Mageblood. Trade is far too restrictive in D4 to allow for any real economy. It’s basically a SSF game, until you want to farm end bosses, at which point 4 man rotas become a hard requirement.
Yes. A mind virus created by the early PR hype and the rest is history.
They should be and should have always been Uncommon Unique items.
It’s truly deplorable that there were unobtanium items in this game(until target farm).
C’mon… Malph old pal launched with .25% drop chance at Season start for Char bound SEASONAL items that boosted a GD PET!!!
The Chests had no % chance(according to notes denoting “Now chests have 3%” which indicated they didn’t prev have any %).
This is just ridiculous design.
Give a decent % drop chance and people will appreciate finding something when they find it.
Rain from the sky? No.
Chance to find this side of 100,000 lifetimes in a 3 month season? Duh ofc.
It’s funny that detractors will come in and say ‘buhbuhbuhbut! teh boredom’ and often be the ones who have something or nolife/rmt.
Or it’s a pride thing.
Or it’s fiiiiiine because they had a lucky few drops so they spout rng inanity to disguise bad design.
It’s not like we’re full, open trade in a 6 month season(D2) or have party 2hr trade for all items like D3.
Get over yourselves… there’s Alts to gear up and mains to min max and not a lot of time to do it - well… unless this is all you do I suppose. In that case - go for a walk and breathe some fresh air, let players have some fun.
The fact the uber stones aren’t account-wide is mind-blowingly stupid. I already want to geld myself with a rusty spoon after doing Malphas 60 times only to drop 0 stones, on my first character.
What are you talking about. Its 7 min to get a 275 chest and egg mats drop like candy. It might be rare for people who dont play the game. You dont need to RMT when its easy to get mats and the drop rates are as high as they are.
Im sure a lot of people did buy mats. I wasnt one of them and have 3 ubers in my stash not being used in 100 runs. Thats 25 rotas.
Because removing mats and keeping drop rates where they are reduces the gameplay loop. These are the only “chase” items left in the game. However they are all opinional with the exception of gf.
The only people that I could think of still thinking that grinding mats is “difficult” are the RMT Sellers, it’s going to affect their sales if mat requirements are gone.
The game is already D3-ed, Uber uniques = Primal Ancients. Game was already beaten to death since week 1, there’s zero difficulty in D4. People are buying dup mats left and right including your favourite streamers to rack up their characters with uber uniques.
More ubers isnt going to solve anything. Game has core gameplay issues, balance issues, endgame issues, coop issues, item issues, season issues, storage issues, ect
