The temper system does not respect our time

D4 devs: “make sure their tempers don’t match their skill bars”

its always funny when you see known trolls you ignored try to reply to you yet again but its ignored. lol

If we have 5 re-rolls on the (let’s say) 4 affixes option, we should have roughly a 76.3% chance to get both affixes we want.
I have never had that high of a number to get it right. It makes me wonder how the RNG is done, and if there is, what they do with the weighted system… I had 7 of the same affixes straight in a row before almost breaking my screen into pieces. It MAY BE just a lack of luck, but honestly, I cannot trust Blizzard on rng.

Try tempering with the Rare item, I find it more likely to have the desired (nice to have) affixes easily. But when you try it on a Legendary item, it feels more weighted on the non-desired (trash) affixes.

(Remember in Season 2, when Uber Unique had a higher chance to drop if you went with someone who has never had Uber Unique before, and with a lower level?)

If we had 8 gears that we wanted to have all the tempering correct, we should only have about 1.8 of the gears to be bricked. But don’t you all think it’s way over that number? I feel like I’ve bricked about 8 gears to make 8 gears.

Haha, you need to wait until you get a perfect 3GA gear, then you will know how easy that your perfect gear becomes brick.

I have? Next please.

I have same thoughts here. It is easy to temper normal legendary, when it comes to 2GA or 3GA items, it is very easy to get them bricked.

I used to play around 5 hours a day since season 4 launched. Farmed a lot. Never dropped a 3GA item. Wanted to buy a weapon at least. bricked it. So now, I agree with the post. Now i play around an hour daily. Dont do farming. I’m bored of the fact that it wastes my time.

Before you flood me, I know what RNG is. But no one here can deny that this spesific RNG system is garbage. If you push the player too hard, they leave. If you make it easy, they get bored. I believe that they push too hard.

this isnt rng. I cant tell you how many time i get the same temper 5x in a row and it bricks my item. it a row. rng would be random not weighted bad rolls that no one wants

I would LOVE to disagree but I rolled 3 characters, got all of them to level 100 and now I am having the same fatigue that I had in the other “OTHER” recent ARPG.

-I love the long game of farming an actual GOOD base item.

-Then I start with tempers and master-working and…

Now I brick everything, waste all resources, have to go back to farming whispers etc for monies like a poorzie… fail again and again on tempers and the first tier of master-working. Rinse-repeat.

Hmmm.

-For me the AWWWW moment is in actually getting a great base item. It happens SO rarely for me.

-I was patient about it for the beginning of the season but…

There comes a point where I engage with a game and when it has been constant failure due to RNG in terms of REFINING an item that after… hundreds of hours: I have to respect my time and move on. I think I am beginning to near that point in this season.

-The sad thing for ME is that, my engagement with a season would be MUCH longer if there was less RNG in item refinement even though they introduce THIS to INCREASE engagement. As stated, the joy in item hunting for me is in actually finding an actual good base item.

-It may be in total contrast to MY viewpoint but I also understand folks who LIKE the rng of continually bricking stuff past the base item. I may not agree but they have valid points too.

Yeah but till now we had to deal only with one layer of RNG.
To find the item we need.
Above that finding the item you needed WITH the good affix roll values was a bonus and not necessary for the build.

Now imagine you play the game for hundreds of hours to finally find the item you need. You finally found the item. Before you were happy and could feel good to find the item you need after so much time.
But now you will feel frustration and fear that you need the tempering required for the build too and boom you don’t get it (2nd layer of RNG)

If you think this tempering system as it is now is a good system and isn’t causing even more RNG you are ignorant.

BTW i’m sure i have about 100h in my character but still have never found a GA3 item. Now at this point i don’t even want to find one. Because i will hate it when i have to trash it.

That’s what i observed too. The game decides upfront what kind of tempering effects you will get on that item and you can try to re-roll them. 80% the time you will get the same over and over again.

pretty much what im saying. its so good to being good but as it stands now once the burn out catchs up of never having a high moment compared to dozens of down moments people will just quit and say well that was their last chance and im done

I have a funeral every time I CRUCIFY a perfectly roll item because of Blizzard’s INSANE RNG

I have a full stash page of 2x and 3x items of going hard this season. the other day I bricked 5 items in one day I spent all the gold ive been farming and selling items for all week at that point i logged… i come back in to grab the cosmetic but the willpower is gone

Yeah. I hear you.

A lot of people actually LIKE this though and think it makes their time in an ARPG more meaningful.

I mean… I invest a LOT of time into this game but I also have like… pets and gardens to weed, a job, etc and actually… even if I didn’t have these things: I still won’t throw an additional 300 hours at a game when it might always result in failure.

I am glad I don’t have THEIR job: trying to cater to the various expectations.

I have been defending the new gear upgrade system but the more I play the less pleased I am with the changes. I am not even complaining about bricking 3GA items because I just didn’t get any so far.

I am a regular player. Always managed to get the gear I needed for my builds in previous seasons. Even though not perfect in terms of roll, upgrading them was not a concern, just easy to get mats and a bit of gold which I always had plenty of. Would soon find a new item, upgrade, compare stats, change if worth it.

Now we need items with 5 good affixes not 4. All skills related affixes are extremely rare. You almost already get +Max life and +Class attribute. Fine, you need that but it does not really help when the 3rd is so hard to get. Wasted several times the little gold I had re-rolling at the Occultist for nothing. Tempering is an additional gamble and so is Masterworking to a lower extend. Cost is now high in terms of mats.

I know there is a hard to find balance between easily giving players what they want and making it impossible for them to get it without spending countless hours playing. From my personnel experience, it has become significantly more difficult to get the gear and I am not even asking for the one with 3 GA.

The troll with 8000 bla bla posts hits again, Tier 200 should not be doable.

No it should be doable. The game should not have a content that cannot be completed at all. That was made by excel sheet scaling instead of well thought game design.

You probalby didnt play enough, let me spoil you. After 100s of hours of grind you will have about a stash tab or half of it with 3GA items. All of them will have useless affixes like life on hit, hp regen per second, + poison/cold/fire resist.

Those that won’t have useless affix, if you are more lucky than 99% players, you can go temper it. Tempering has about 80% chance to fail. So if you find 5 3GA items, you straight vendor 4 of it.

^This. I personally don’t care if anyone wants to spend 10 hours a day over 3 months trying to get items you want for your build. 3 month seasonal content precludes long term systems (like tempering and master working in their current form) that take more than 90 days to accomplish your build goals. The current system locks players into one class for 3 months and trying different builds will ensure you do not complete the seasonal content. This is because you have to fail tempering so many times before you can even test if something works well with the build you are trying to make.

If you are happy with the system as is, congratulations! You are the players Blizzard wants to retain so they can farm you for MTX with minimal effort on their part. I will happily leave that honor to you and you can feel superior all you want. You deserve what you get.

People hate losing something more than they like getting it. I’m certain there’s some kind of psychological term for it. You gave me a good item that I bricked; it’d have been better if I never got one.

I agree. I stopped playing Lost Ark for this same time wasting filler content. Korean MMO mechanics are there to milk money in F2P content and as filler content to extend play time in games like this.
