The Road to Hell is is paved with good intentions. Problem solving done wrong

There “shortend” solutions broke a lot of the stuff in the long run.

Here is an example.

Raising mob density -
People felt bored due to lack of “combat” and “challenge” in the map and dungeons. So blizzard ramped up the Spawning of mobs creating an entirely new problem…

CC -
With the massiv spawning of trash mobs a new problem occured, as that high mob densitiy created an overload of CC attacks on the player. resulting in a lot of crying on the forum. So once again a bad solution was found. Heavy nerfing of CC from monsters…

Monster disarm -
Usualy Mosnters in an ARPG have some kind of personality. Usualy by a nice visual representation and ofc their “unique” behavior. Like those “Lightning bugs from D2 torturing any Melee champ without lightning resistence”
So in d4 we had these uniques traits of monsters as well. Be it freezing attacks, stuns, grapples etc. Since the screen now was filled with these guys, blizzard decided to disarm them by heavily nerfing the CC. influence on the Endgame…

Endgame-
Instead of having methodical fights against different types of Monsters where the player has to adapt to the situation we instead ended up on a game that basicly just throws a bazillion weak and disarmed enemies at you. Resulting in a super boring experience for everyone. Abandon any challenge to reintroduce challenge…

Challenging Endgame - So with everything nerved to death and CC being reduced to minimum there is only 1 way left to actualy create any kind of challenge. By scaling the Crraap out of the everything. Welcome to greater rifts. Ah i mean Pit.

Wecome to Diablo 3.5.

I guess the Road to hell is is paved with good intentions.

I’ve been saying those exact things here. You guys tore into me for saying that so you should tear into him too right?

Not only, the approach of “satisfying needs for conveniences” also

Why is this so long, why that limitation/obstacle, why can’t I teleport immediately to where I want, why can’t I… e.t.c.

Now the game is “Helltide from lvl1” already, i.e. “premium content” from the get-go, nothing ramps up, nothing feels like a special opportunity or an event of special flavor, e.t.c.

Helltide is premium content??? It was until this season Filler content. Now it actually serves a real purpose.

you see what happens whenever a fight needs you to adapt accordingly. People cry. All we can hope for is that blizz doesnt make the game any easier, because honestly, bad players will always find reasons, or rather excuses, for why they cant progress any further in certain scenarios.

I mean you see it this season in the most funny ways. I cant progress cause rogue too weak! omg barb is too strong! omg necro is too strong! - when in fact all classes clear t100++

Its been this way with uber lilith, and now with pit bosses.

stop catering to whiny people. Of course make sure that entrance barriers are doable for everyone (for example i think the entrance level for the pit materials could be reduced by 10 levels, to help out off meta builds a little)

I was posting against Enemy Density increase pre-season constantly. Even after Devs said they were going to increase. It creates even more problems than listed here like HP sustain overflow, resource overflow, loss of terrain interactions, AoE Vs Single Target, only burst damage against players and that’s just off the top of my head.

Warframe, Diablo 3 and Path of Exile made this mistake. Both Warframe and Path of Exile will never be harder than their first year periods when they had less but more meaningful enemies. Both games are mostly just stat smashers now.

Ya Blizz kinda follows the philosophy to make D4 once again a Loot suppositorie. They make sure it slides in easaly without the slightest fraction. I expect a heavy nerf of the Pit instead of a reblance.

Pit difficulty is high but not “good”. They need to rework it, keep it challenging but on a enjoyable way. Not by simply scaling everything to 89093264%

I am guessing you don’t mean pit filled with snakes and the little flying drones that can stun you and are absolutely immune to any damage or counterplay. Cause unavoidable CC is so much fun.

@vukotlak I commend you on speaking the truth. The developers and parts of this community are trying to gaslight everyone into thinking these were good choices and that the game is somehow fixed now, when in reality it’s a complete, disjointed mess.

I actually thought they would be smart enough to remove the buckets and make it more like Diablo 2. But nope.

Helltide is great as it is now. a lot of people enjoying.
If you have issues to kill those amount of easy trash mobs the problem is you and not the game

You might have missed the point. OP is more or less saying the opposite.

When you increase enemy density you are forced to dumb down individual enemies. Combat then becomes less methodical, less strategic and less difficult in general. Adding enemies doesn’t make the game harder because conditions a player could avoid with less enemies is no longer reasonable thus they get become less dangerous.

Like I mentioned in my post. Less Skill more Stat Smashing.

Well there’s the additional downside/effect of making mass AoE and mass CC mandatory… Also would imagine one of the reasons why we now have potions of Holy Bolt :stuck_out_tongue:
