They were all fun, but I agree 1.08-1.09 was probably the best, then classic, then 1.10+.
1.08-1.09 was also great because you could have the option of playing real pre-lod classic D2 characters on BNET. For some reason they retroactively added 1.10 synergies and changes to D2 classic so you couldn’t play real classic online anymore after that. During 1.09 I played both LOD and classic, and they were both good.
