So prior to S2 the main issue was it was a colossal gold sink.
But this season the issue is forgotten souls, which IMO is proving to be far worse, not the least of which because Helltide sucks and feels like a chore.
An easy fix would be to simply have FS drop from the Blood Harvest, particularly when summoning the council but also just in general.
Enchanting has been made worse indeed. I thought it was fine before but I guess this is what people wanted (or at least thatâs what Blizzard understood). Now gold is worthless and we never have enough soulsâŚ
ya dont see this as an issue. they are plentiful from helltide. i mean if people want to enchant, run a helltide. if you dont want to enchant come to forums to complain about helltide.
Certainly theyâll look at expanding helltides rates, helltides more often, or finding another route for FS. Enough people seem to be unhappy with it, so a refresh will be nice, will have to see s3/4 for any changes likely.
Enchanting costs should be reversed to what it was. The high gold cost was one of the most balanced things in D4 (I know, I know, that does not say much, but it was genuinely good!)
Priority affixes should never return however, that was insanely annoying.
Recently, I avoided Helltides for 3 days when I was hit by the Living Steel Bug-stick repeatedly back-to-back-to-back.
I enchanted down to 1 FS remaining.
I played quite a bit - all content except Helltides.
At the end of the 3 days I had a grand total of 8 FS.
Hundreds upon hundreds of items Salvaged(Rares and Leggos ofc), many NMD run, Mystery Chests(not âMysteriousâ)opened, Goblins killed, easily 4/day WBâs, Legions, Whisper turn-ins and Blood Harvests(including Vamp Siphon & SummCircle).
In all that I managed to only acquire 7 Forgotten Souls.
Whatever the âoddsâ are for random salvaging giving a FS - I think they should maybe check the math again.
It wouldnât be a crime nor game breaking to:
Have Goblins drops a couple/few[insert amount].
Mystery Chests drop a couple/few[insert amount] (Currently I donât even get an ITEM from them around 50% of the timeâŚsomething else is wrong here - ahem Devs?)
Slightly increase FS chance from Salvaging(or at least Check. The. Math.)
World Bosses drop a couple/few[insert amount]
The World/NMD etc grace us with 1FS every other Tuesday when itâs raining in the Sahara.
Having them primarily(read: pretty much exclusively) locked behind an hour+ rotating eventâŚ
Not asking for the âsameâ amount we get from HTâs - just a bit of trickle down FS economy here from the rest of the Game.
Iâm not going to say âIt CANâT be 10%!!!1!â because Iâm no math person for starters and second Iâd only open myself up for a math-attack from one of the in-house whizzes
From personal experience and the fact I spent those 3 days consciously avoiding HTs and constantly checking my FS count - as well as never upgrading past level 4 and not enchanting anything - meanwhile salvaging pretty much everything - I âFeelâ it surely cannot be â10%â because what I witnessed was much much lower.
Funny side-note: I was stash cleaning earlier after redesigning my Rogue.
Once again Iâm at 1 FS - this is important.
So needing to do a HT so I can Enchant his gear, but needing to clean-house first - I salvage around 20 items. Some rares and legs. Even mix of them as well even item type mix.
I look at my materials and notice â5 FSâ ⌠LOL. As if only to prove me wrongâŚ
sigh.
It wouldnât be nearly so bad if Ancestral gear didnât cost 2 FS per reroll (Scared only cost 1)
And again, itâs absolutely bogus you only get TWO choices per roll. Iâm fairly certain D3 gives you 3 if not 4 options.
So weâre getting hosed on multiple fronts - to say nothing of how tedious Helltide is now. Ranted about it enough lately but TL;DR condense it down to 30 minutes and make it way more intense and rewarding. An hour is entirely too long, same with Blood Harvest honestly (though that actually could be problematic due to the bounties refreshing twice as often which would sky rocket EXP and Gold gains)
I might enjoy helltides more if there was a way to do some sort of ânightmare helltideâ potion that increased enemy level and density to make it feel like it was worth more my time as my character gears up.
like, Replace chests with Cinder altarâs that summon an extra hard demon but also let you level up your glyph as well as dropping forgotten souls out of it.
Iâve finally managed to do a Helltide for almost the full hour, 2x living steel and 2x mystery chest and I got 22 souls overall. This is a complete joke.
Better than what I got doing the âOpen 10 Chestsâ in a single HT earlier.
(p.s. I only say âbetterâ simply because I expected more from that many chests and elites etc)
46 Forgotten Souls total.
It seems kind of low? Normal?
Frankly Iâve never taken a tally of activities nor taken note of FS count and rate of acquiring them.
Started at Zero FS and took a tally:
I opened 11 Chest.
8 Armor, 1 Ring, 1 Amulet and 1 Mysterious Chest.
5 Random Events(small), 1 Random Event(large - northeast part of HT zone in Fractured Peaks)
2 âInvasionâ Events(Portals then Boss summons)
4 Firestorm Elites
5 Summoned Elites
7 Fiend Rose plants, 8 chests, 5 âBlueâ ore veins(couldnât find more), handful of standard Ore(didnât count those), 11 âRed glowing doodadsâ - 2 of which were the little onesâŚforgot name.
Wouldâve also had a Living Steel but it bugged on me OFC!! Now you see it, now you donât. There one moment and gone when I return 90 seconds later. Only had 1m 15s remaining, no time to jump through the foolish LS hoops to get it to reappear and I took the 323 Cinders as a loss and par for course.
