The problem with D4=no longevity

there is no longevity design currently in D4. Basically you get your character to lvl 100 in 4-5 hours. Do helltides until your exalted, run NM dungeons than Pits, than thats it. Its nothing to gear up character decently, so your talking about the most a week? Than what do you, absolutely nothing. There needs to be something that keeps players logging in, besides just doing dungeons, pits. You have to think, what keeps players continuing to log into D2, WOW? There is one common denominator? Very very rare items and pvp. Finding a Tyraels, ZOD, GF, are hard AF to find in D2, thats why D2 is still relevent. Not saying that a GF needs to be hard AF to find, but I think we need even a higher lvl of gear to find, higher than mythical thats hard AF to find. For the sake of conversation I will call this gear Artifacts, gear rated even higher than Gfs, Shako, Doom etc. Another thing that could help is some PVP events in the 2 PVP areas, or just make them battlegrounds like Diablo Immortal. I know PVP isn’t for everyone, but alot of people do love to pvp regardless. Look at WOW, theres a whole system based on PVP, like battlegrounds, arena etc. I know to me the funnest thing in WOW is Alterec Valley, Arathi Basin, just something. This one might be a stretch, but flying mounts like WOW, showing off them flying dragon mounts, good ole days. Tormented world bosses, the current ones are good for low level toons, but they need reworked, make them alot of stronger at lvl 100, maybe.make them the hardest bosses in the game with a small chance to drop a artifact mentioned above or a mat to help make a artifact. Theres so many other things I can add but to me, this would be a decent start. I know this isn’t for everyone, but being a D2 player for 26 years, and WOW for almost 20 years, I have a pretty good feel of what makes games fun and exciting for most people. This current state will kill the game in a few years if we can’t attract many different audiences, alot of people like to just PVP, some just like to raid, and some love to do both. Bring it all to D4

The way that games like this choose to selectively reward people is the single thing that I hate most about them. You played for 2 days and most of that carried, here have a Shako. You played for a year and learned ins and outs of combat and can beat Uber Lilith in your sleep., well gee thanks for playing and be sure to buy the expansion.

Diablo is not wow.
If game turns boring, find new.
Many fish in sea.

agree 100 percent. But currently shakos are very easy to get. Thats why I believe we need another class of gear even higher that is alot harder to get, maybe even need to have a certain gear check or score to to even get in these areas to get these “artifact” gear pieces

In concept I like the idea of rare cosmetics more than I like the concept of rare gear. You’ve still found something that few have so you can show it off but in doing so you don’t have an unfair advantage.

IM sorry but D2 isnt relevant . Its a nostalgia piece only. No new player is picking it up over d4

game is 24 years old. I can log in right now and thousands are still playing Diablo 2. PVPing in act 1, running Pindleskins, Baals, Meph etc…Diablo 2 is alive and well.

You realize that shakos used to be extraordinarily difficult to get right? And the crybabies threw a tantrum so Blizzard made it easy? What would stop this from happening with artifacts?

And those players are clinging onto nostalgia

I know Shakos use to be hard to find, but the casuals got their way. Have nothing against casuals, but there needs to be content for the crowd like myself and some of you that are more hardcore, and want a harder challenege and bigger rewards. You ask how to get the “artifact” gear. One suggestion could be Uber world bosses, you have to be lvl 100 and hit a certain gear check score to participate in the event, maybe u get a mat for the artifact and make it rare. We have like 4 to 5 world bosses, so maybe 4 to 5 mats. Than make a uber dungeon, at the end of it after you beat the boss, you can use the avril to craft your Artifact. I mean, it can be many ways. We have Nightmare Dungeons, maybe we can have Hell Dungeons??

Streamers designed the game to fit d4 neatly into their streaming schedule, not for the overall health of the game?

Who would have thunk it.

nothing wrong with that. Regardless D2 is still fun. Go make a necro summoner in D2 and level it… Than make a summoner in D4, and tell me which one is more fun. In D2 you can summon it seems 80 to 100 skellies at one time, It literally is a skeleton army. Than make a summon necro on D4, boring

“Casuals” is mostly used as a derogatory so forgive me if I go right ahead and assume that you do.
As for adding stupidly hard content for hardcore players you do realize that inevitably leads to people complaining about not being able to do it, see Shako. Not really a solution, more creating another problem, innit?

Have you played WoW recently?

In Dragonflight, they put a legendary two handed axe in a raid. Every DPS that could use it wanted it. There was so much whining and crying by the people that didn’t get it that they put in “bad luck protection” to GUARANTEE it would drop after a certain number of raid boss kills. Then there was still so much whining from the people that hadn’t gotten it yet that they made the bad luck protection better so people would get it after a lower number of kills. This is supposed to be a LEGENDARY item, the type of item that only the luckiest and most dedicated would get in old school WoW, and they had to guarantee it would drop for people to be happy.

This is just one example. It’s been happening in WoW also for quite a while.

Apparently chasing ubers every season just so whirlwind can be viable is their endgame, this game is a disaster and I doubt it will ever be good

Boring. Rare loot eventually can be found with enough time spent and promotes botting or no life. Sure D2 is classic, but its also pioneer to exploit and botted trading economy in the genre. Rare loot has pros and cons. If loot is so rare that trading is encouraged, how about all items account bound with no trading?

Rare loot is 1 thing, doing something with it is another. D4’s problem is content difficulty keeps dumbing down and nerfed for incapable players. Players should accept there are hierarchy in player skills and gaming experiences. Its normal for top 0.01% players to farm contents mortals incapable of even with exact same build and gears. Hence the chase for game today should be gaming skill perfection.

Best loot are not granted on 1st second logging on, but shouldnt be a decade long grind either. There should be a leaderboard for chase and reminding you how terrible you are and you log on whenever you can to hone your pathetic skills with the best items already accessible. That should be chase of D4 and modern arpgs.

All these are subjective views to each and our own. Fundamental problem of D4 is uninspiring builds wasting its smooth battle (somewhat) flow. In comparison to PoE 2, its so shy in terms of build depth, versatility and combat styles. Items are icing, the cake is build and combat in an ACTION RPG.

Hence D4 need to fix its build and class balances as core and return difficulty to proper gamer levels.

Cosmetic chase ubers would fill this nicely.
