I’ve seen a lot of back and forth about Barbarians on the forums, so I decided to summarize what barbs are trying to explain to other classes.
We’re really good at NM 50-70 speed clears, but so are other classes
Our NM 80+ is really bad
Our Uber Lilith is really bad
Where most people sit at the endgame, they’ll likely see barbs ripping through NM 50-70 dungeons and world content and think they’re OP. What they don’t realize is that in the endgame we’re pretty trash. Anything above NM 80 is a struggle bus and our best skill (HoTA) is only good because of a bugged interaction.
Essentially what this means is the class is poorly balanced for endgame content, and in a Diablo game this makes no sense.
And for the comments I know I’ll get…
Yes I’m complaining, deal with it
No I don’t want WW Barb to deal 100m crits
No I don’t want other classes nerfed to our level
Edit: Still lots of disagreement on the current state of Barb. As such I’ll say this, if anyone can link me a video of current WW Barb (or anything that isn’t bugged HoTA) clearing a NM 90 or above solo, I’ll stop posting entirely about the state of Barbarian
Edit 2: This feat has been achieved! Whirlwind barb successfully clears NM 100 dungeon.
Blizzard revert the nerfs. We need a normal rare armor to survive dungeons, and not a unique one u want us to use. Pure reason numbers were as high as they used to be were bugs that u guys fixed. Now that bugs are gone, class is sucked dried of any form of dps or survability.
They also overnerfed due to bugged aspects that they fixed but never really went back to examine the nerfs.
The paragon board is a disaster - legendary nodes are total crap.
The skill tree makes no sense - there are so many skills that don’t seem to synergize at ALL and give the impression that multiple disconnected teams had their hands on things at different points and whatever original vision there was (if any) was lost due to the chaotic nature of remote work/development hell that this game seemed to go through.
The uniques are hilariously bad.
There are so many total garbage aspects.
Arsenal system seems good in theory but just not enough of the toolkit utilizes it.
Survivability is a joke, shoe horned into 3 shout meta even with the CD nerf.
Barb needs really big mitigation buffs outside of shouts since they cant’ attack with shouts down. Even with shouts up Barbs can get 1 shot. Meanwhile we got Immortal Druids farming T100.
Barb class mitigation should be buffed from 10% to 20%. They should increase Fort mitigation. Then reduce requirements for Shouts, WW. We tie so much up just to use 1 ability.
Barb also needs buffs to Rend. This would be a good start. I’d love to see CD reduction to shouts come back on other gear. Barb is really tied down to specific Glyphs and Aspects for Resource generation.
I’d reduce barbs Resource cost by 30% for all abilities.
Idk where you’re getting this information, maybe maxroll or something? It’s not nearly as hard on other classes as it is on Barb. We’re the only exclusively melee class, with skills that require us to get right next to mobs to deal damage. The typical dungeon clear w/ HoTA barb (the only viable one) goes something like this.
Use all three shouts and iron skin next to mob. Hit HoTA backwards. Wait till all shouts are up before trying to clear another small pack. It’s extremely tedious.
We can’t do it just as easy as other classes. There’s two classes that can straight up ignore mechanics and clear the fight in under two minutes. That’s a big difference from 10 minutes of dodging.
Barb is F tier. It’s literally the worst Class in the game for NM and Uber Lilith. Barbs need to pay for Carries in both. Especially Lilith. If you think Barb is better than ANY other Class you are hilariously wrong.
Oh so like a rogue or druid. Haven’t played druid, but I’m full 800 IP on my rogue with almost god rolls and still get 1 shot in an 80 and I have almost 19,000 HP with fort potion.
Its not even close, you just need to optimized your gear in higher NM’s for more survivability and not worry about damage. Get dmg reduction to close, max life, %armor.
Did you know whirlwind snapshots your position when you cast it, so close/distant and suppressor elites get all jumbled up? The more you know about our broken class
Yeah same for rogues with twisting blades, I’m aware. I usually try to rush the suppressor before popping my cooldowns. Also the close snapshot is just for damage, not damage reduction from close.
Strange, I figured it affected damage reduction as well since I can’t hit suppressor mobs when I’m inside their circle if I started outside. Yeah, there’s a lot of issues w/ the game right now.
