I think I have finally pinned down what has been bothering me so much with this game.
It’s the pointlessness of everything.
There is no story and there is no dialog with the new bosses.
As far as I can tell, these bosses aren’t even a real threat till your character comes along.
They aren’t even hurting anyone, and if they are, you are never made aware of it.
Why don’t you just, I don’t know, not summon the bad guys?
Unique items aren’t unique when you have 27 of them. Pointless…
A hundred million gold means/changes nothing. Pointless…
Wold bosses are dead in 15 seconds. Pointless…
There is no trade economy. Trading. Pointless…
Killing bosses to get the 17th pair of the same boots. Pointless…
When ladder comes out, that will be pointless too.
Blizzard needs to start giving more purpose to doing things within this game.
Example, how about the top 10 people on the ladder get a cool cosmetic.
See what I did there? I gave people a reason to actively participate in the ladder.
How hard was that?

I’m only level 85 and I’m completely bored again with literally no drive to even try to get to 100.

When you accomplish all of those, it means you have rendered a lot of hours… hours of entertainment. That’s the point… of a videogame. It’s not pointless.
It’s pointless afterwards when you are burnt out. You just have to rest. Play something else.
The game did its job to you. Stop whining.

It’s pointless garbage when you throw away the game to the garbage in less than 6 hours. But you played this game for hundreds of hours. You just didnt see how hooked/addicted you were.

I feel like the repliers missed your point.
If the game isn’t fun for an extended period of time don’t keep grinding on the game. Come back later if there is something that interests you.
Personally, I took a LONG break during s1 because the game wasn’t fun enough. The current grind for and with Duriel has fixed some of my annoyance with Season 1so I am back to playing as I have fun with the core combat gameplay when I find a build I enjoy.

Just the tiniest of hints. All things in life are pointless. You could even cure cancer and it’d be pointless. In 50-100 years the entire human race is going to be extinct. So you might as well enjoy the mindless pointlessness of it all.

Thats an opinion. Ive enjoyed the game since beta. Is it perfect? No ofc not. Still fun for me though. Does that mean you should be having fun? Nope. Welcome to the world of opinions.
What i do is set small goals and go for that. I enjoy the game play of my build though. I dont do meta builds. My current goal is finding better rings because mine are 3/4. I finally got a good chest piece last night after having gambled chests since i hit wt4. Im level 100 and still dont have anywhere near BIS.

It’s because the game is shallow and it all boils down to itemization. The “point” should be character progression but even that is shallow since the game is imbalanced and you can clear all the content in the game with broken meta builds.
But you’ll see people brush your experience off and praise the game anyway not realizing that the game only improves if people criticize it.
