The Pit as of season 5 is dead content. No one wants to run the pit anymore. Why is that and what can we do about it?
The pit is way too difficult with minimal reward.
You could say that the inferno hordes is responsible for this so we need to nerf the hordes right? Wrong! The pit was always way too hard and gave abysmal rewards ever since it launched before we even knew what the hordes were. The hordes is perfectly balanced, we love it, don’t touch it. Instead buff the rewards in the Pit and eliminate these one-shot boss echos. The rewards for the pit 1-99 should be tripled and 100-200 should be quadrupled in order to compete with the Hordes. Also please nerf the boss echo damage. Too many instances of being one-shotted for no good reason. It’s not fun blasting through the pit only to be one-shotted by the boss and lose our momentum.
Nope. Hordes isn’t balanced to every class and build. Have you tried T7 and T8 with a non meta build? Can it farm Neaths without going in Pit? I would say in terms of farming, Pit is balance as it gives non S tier access to Neaths. Hordes does not. So it’s not balance… If Neath drops at T6, it might be a different story.
I agree. Buffing the rewards are good idea. So players who can’t do Horde but can do Pit should still feel rewarded and not being left out because they have no choice.
About the debuff mechanic, I think I am 50/50 on that. No one complains about it in the lower tiers. The complaint always happens because you are doing a level that’s way above your paygrade.
When you have a build that’s opportunistic, lacks damage and survivability, and is likely tier H for not being highly specialized, it’s frustrating to have limited or extremely limited damage, especially if your class has suffered severe nerfs. So you can hit the boss, but, oh wait, a fireball just came out that deletes you at three stacks. The boss got stunned, oh bad luck, Lilith appeared.
All of this makes me wonder, is the IGGM store actually a Blizzard franchise?
For me atleast I have exerienced this on my fireball sorc.
Hords T3/4 is easy and that gives me all the blue masterwork I need to masterwork 4/12.
But to get yellow mats to further masterwork I needed to do pits(Pit 61) to convert to yellow and thus be able to masterork 8/12.
Next step is to aquire enough mats to masterwork 12/12. Pit 61 is my current pit level I am able to do fairly quick.
I can not do T7 where the good stuff is.Way too squishy
Tldr;
I don’t care about pits, but it is easier to get the legendary masterwork mats through pits atm for me. Hords T6-7 are way too hard.
I don’t know about super high levels of the Pits… but for me, if they removed the Lilith Shadows and actually cut the Bosses health by 25%… I’d have no issues running Pits.
Each time I died in the Pits last night was from a Lilith wave spawning right on top of my location and instant 1-shot dead. That’s not fun in anyone’s world. I was even watching out for them, playing safe, but nope, still got me…
I do farm T7s and T8s with a non-meta build called Bone Splinters. I farm a T7 just fine. The build is only A tier and is not mentioned on Maxroll or Mobalytics. Are you telling me that Bone Splinters is S tier? I am not doing billions of damage per tick; it takes a bit longer, but I clear everything without dying. This is on a necro by the way, one of the worst classes.
I think a lot more people would be able to do T6+ if they fixed the bugged/overtuned damage that the Desecrator Aether Fiend does. Whenever I die in Hordes, it’s usually that mob one shotting me with damage numbers that would make even tormented bosses and Lilith cry with jealousy.
T6(and nmd 100) is possible with a level 81 Puncture build - granted it’s got some Mythics but it’s nowhere near optimized.(I couldn’t theorycraft or paragon my way out of a wet paper bag…but it WORKS).
Bosses took a few minutes but nothing terrible.
I’ve run a grand total of 2 pits.
1 last season and 1 this season. Just not interested with the feedback from last season(I was a tourist but read the forums) and the fact they’ve been equipped with Debuffs. Seriously?
Kktyvm I’ll gladly pass on stupid arbitrarily “skill gated” content that’s ALREADY TIMED which is a built in anti-camp/turtle mechanic…naw let’s add debuff for reasons. pfft.
That right there is a paraphrasing of all of last season and again - why I don’t & won’t bother and do not care to even go there.
Bad design, foolish mechanics.
(disclaimer: yes ik ik they also have to build the game around the ultra sweaties with toilets doubling as computer chairs. how dumb of me to forget the unwashed and fragrant ones!)
Won’t matter once VoH comes out. They said at gamescom on the stage that there is a new multi layer dungeon that you can pick your own challenges and rewards you receive.
Who wants to bet that this will be the new grinding spot and Pit and Hordes become obsolete. Just like the Hordes made the pit?
You can get the yellow mw mats from tier 5 as well. T7 is for you getting from 8-12.
@GreyGhost non-meta builds have been shown clearing t7-8, it’s just not as easy. Pretty normal for any game, you take the path of resistance and you’ll find…resistance. It’s still doable though. If you can’t, then it’s either a skill issue or more likely a gear issue.
It’s all about optimization(which I will always admit I am terrible at)
2 people could have identical gear - Different Tempers, Paragon and even some skill(twig) variation - one will win by a landslide and perform, the other will make a post here on the Forum.
Which is why I just blindly follow guides. People can say all they want about it, but those people make money by sitting there with a large mass of people helping them theorycraft the optimal stats / skills. I don’t lol.
I also understand people who don’t like playing the absolute best builds the game has to offer. Sometimes it makes the game unbearably easy, sometimes the playstyle of that build is just miserable and that’s all well and good, but most of the other builds that aren’t S tier is still perfectly capable of smashing any content in the game if built and played correctly.
T7 hordes seems to be the meta for meta builds while the Pit is still there for off meta builds to farm neathirion. The bar to farm neathrion in the hordes is set a lot higher than farming it in the pits. That being said, the quality of your build affects your reward differently depending on which game mode you play. In the pit, you get a fixed reward at the end, but the quality of your build determines how fast you can clear the run. The hordes is the inverse, the hordes is on a fixed timer, but the quality of your build determines the amount of rewards you get at the end. Blizzard was genius in designing these two separate game modes to be parallel to each other, allowing players to choose what they prefer.
