The Pit is fine

To everyone crying that they can’t do the highest Pit tiers, we’re not supposed to. It’s a progression mode same as greater rifts in D3. Until recent years, nobody made it to GR150 and we didn’t care. It was presented as the hardest content and it was ultimately how they scored your seasonal leaderboards.

I actually think they could make the Pit harder. Seeing people are already clearing over tier 100 is sad. With natural power progression, we’ll be finishing the highest tier far before we ever got to that point in D3.

Ironically people hate on D3, but are fine with D4 being even easier and still scream “Don’t turn D4 into D3, but stop nerfing my class!” even though D4 is already worse than D3 as far as progression is concerned and the damage numbers.

hell i just lost a paragon 1500+ HC necro in Season 31 to Perdition 1-shotting me in a GR130.
Unless these folx have never played end game D3, 1-shots from this kind of end game boss is not something new to Diablo.

it’s not new, but D3 was trash tier game so smthing has to be changed.

Yes pit is FINE, But listen to me… Visability of those one shots is not. 99% of time i cant even see them cuz its dark skills on dark ground.

yea on some boss arenas they can be a little tricky to spot. i dont think its a huge deal, but yea, a little more visibility never hurts.

  1. the balance between the dungeon and the PIT boss is often out of alignment.

  2. one shots when they come out of the blue is not good design.

If you are getting one shot it should be because the content is too hard for your build/gear and it should be fairly obvious. However, in D4 you can just get one shot from random things while doing content that is not challenging you all that much. It’s weird design.

Agree, PIT 150+ should be nightmarishly hard/impossible but that doesn’t mean Blizzard has balanced the game well, leading up to that point.

D4 was never “not worse” than D3.

The pit is fine yes, but boss fights need a bit of tweaking (i.e. remove Airidah Tornadoes and remove the mechanics when bosses disappear to appear in another place)

Pit is not fine. You have to farm at such a low level because of bosses being so much stronger than the rest of the instance. That combined with almost no reward for doing it on harder difficulty make it useless garbage.
Why do a 130 pit? When you can run a t100 3 times as fast and safe? 60 mats in 4 mins in the 100 with little chance of failing/dying. Or 80 mats in 6+ mins with a whole lot of chance to die/fail. Which sounds better?

That’s not a design issue, that’s scaling issue (which pretty much sums up the same point I made)

The pit should be designed around slow progression and comparable Boss fights (or at least comparable Boss HP)

Not having everything die in 2 hits and then in order to make the boss fight last for a while in comparison their HP needing to be multiplied by a factor of 1000 or whatever (i.e. need to nerf Boss HP, and the strong builds)

Visibility, CC and boss health need to be reviewed. I find the actual difficulty entertaining, much better than D3 for sure. This is their first attempt, numbers are out of whack.

Sharpshooter is aweful to see.

people would care less if balancing let some classes compete. Unfortunately sorc and druid sit in corner

Your only reason for claiming that pit is OK is “D3 did the same”.
Doesn’t it sound ridiculous to you?

I dont see it this way. Many of these builds are based on broken interactions. From golem necro extra dipping from elixir to sorcs that cant die to barbs doing a gazillion dmg from bash.

What they need to do is fix all these bugs and then we can really see where we are at along with how to truly balance all the heroes.

A pit mobs with Trillion of HP when there is no damage in the game with the same output without broken interaction with Elixir or overturned build with golem and bash is a bad design. If not one can clear PIT200 in the season when there is no reason to have it there as White Elephant. We already have many white elephants in the game aka normal dungeons and Cellars.

Also the mat for 12 masterworking is locked behind the high tier PIT. As most players only can clear below PIT100 they are getting very little mat for gear progression.

I really disagree with a lot here, Just because D3 did something doesn’t mean D4 has to. The pit bosses HP is fine, but the one shot mechanics have to go… Its laughable to roll the entire dungeon, get to the boss and fail 6 times because of one shots… 75K HP 75K fortify and 60K barrier should not be dropped by a single attack. stupidest thing possible. if the boss can only hit for 10% of my total HP pool why should a summoned companion do 120%.

Oh god, with the title “The Pit is fine”, I expected OP will try to guide/discuss how to detect one-shot moves/patterns from bosses/phantoms and how to dodge them.

And what smash in my face is “we’re not supposed to”, “D4 is already worse than D3” ?!
ok then…

that’s totally valid

The people are not “crying” because they can’t do 150+ tier in pit but because they get oneshotted on even 60+ :see_no_evil:
Had people in D3 anytime problems doing GR 50? I don’t think so.
