The patch is fine

I was reading through the patch notes on my lunch break at work and applauding what I was seeing. Then I come online to see people repeating the same two critiques(they nerfed all damage and XP) that don’t make sense to me. One reason they don’t make sense is because there will be season blessings to add up to 12% bonus XP as well as malignant gems to put into gear for extra power. The other reason is because we all should’ve been expecting this. This is the type of balancing that should happen at the start of every live service game. It’s funny how every youtuber would talk about how busted vulnerable damage is, but now that they’re addressing it, they’re all crying about how much less damage they’re doing. Hopefully the devs saw this coming and can address the feedback at the fireside chat without capitulating to the loudest voices in the room.

Otherwise, I’m not really sure how people can get mad at:
-Power leveling exploits nerfed
-Skills balanced
-Op Affixes Nerfed/weak affixes buffed(should make more equipment usable as you search for the best rolls)
-OP aspects nerfed/weak aspects buffed
-Level scaling improvements make challenges more rewarding
-Rare and ancestral drop rate improved
-Level requirement caps introduced for sacred and ancestral items (60 for sacred and 80 for ancestral) making it easier to find the right equipment and to gear up alts(this isn’t in the patch notes but it’s confirmed by Joe Piepiora on twitter)
-Altar of lilith and map discovery is account wide/renown easier to collect

Balancing eternal realm against temporary seasonal buffs is terrible game design.

You’re not smart and clearly a trash tier player. Another garbage can to put on my ignore list.

Balance is worse now than ever. Multiple off meta builds were nerfed into dust. Weak classes are even weaker than they were previously, while strong, meta builds are still in the same place.

They only removed power across the board to tempt people into utilizing their malignant gimmicks. They’re trying to funnel people into playing seasons so they buy battle passes.

If any of you have any integrity at all, you’ll refrain from playing season one.

weren’t exploits why would they let level 1 into wt4 and power leveling has been in d2 and 3.

Skills nerfed none of the builds really changed what was meta is still meta

false

not enough to matter

difficulty changes haven’t really changed at all except for NM d and all that is changed is you die more to what killed you before which is one shots.

Gotta love it when people offer such well thought out responses to your arguments and then admit that they’re too scared to hear your response to such kind criticism.

Are you kidding? This is the epitome of lazy game design and nerfing power, all to increase longevity of gameplay and earning from selling “Battlepass boosters”. Also, if you really wanted to make other builds viable, you buff those builds, not nerf the others. I mean, come on, this patch lacks everything from common sense to critical thinking.

Wow, you’re either one of the “developers” or hoping Blizzard rewards you for your comments. I read the patch notes and then I see the reality of the game experience. Drop rates on everything has been lowered. No matter the defense you use on the Sorcerer you will get your butt kicked all the time. These developers are inexcusable in what they have done. Maybe you, but no one else is playing this game to have a mediocre time. I was part of a group that killed Wandering Death and no legendary dropped. This game is no longer fun or playable. You made a good attempt to kiss Blizzard’s behind but you are wrong in your assessment.

Its good that Blizzard still lets their employees have lunch breaks. I’m happy for you, stay strong, maybe soon you’ll get a job at a reputable game company OP!

They make monsters in overworld and normal dungeons complete pushovers, how does that make challenges more rewarding?

Now lets fill in what everyone is talking about

  • Leveling takes longer (both Solo and Party)
  • More time require to farm Aberrant Cinders in Hell tide
  • More useless affixes to roll out of gear which also means more trash items (barb with barrier stat LOL)
  • No changes to the gold/resources needed to roll those affixes either means higher chances of losing a potentially good item
  • the nerf to Vulnerability was needed but did that really lower the priority of that stat? NOPE! The damage calculates exactly the same pre-patch, meaning that near perfect Vulnerability roles are even more important than ever before (same with CDR and Crit damage). Nothing was given, to play around with, to not need these exact stats as before patch.
  • Are the best skils still the best? Mostly except for Barb which HOTA is now garbage. It was a fixed bug but now what are they good at, thorns? ALL Base armor is 30% lower and the armor aspect is 50% weaker. This actually hurts Sorc the most since we have the weakest armor values in the game with only +400 armor in all our paragon boards versus the next highest which is Necro at +1000 armor and if we want to use Malignant Hearts we lose another 750 armor from our jewelry that those hearts get socket into…
  • Is Resistances still a hot mess yes, was any other defense layer addes to make up for this nerf to play with? NOPE!
  • Was their any Quality of Life changes? NOPE. A modder can make an improved stash tab if this multi billion dollar company can’t. I know a few they can contract out how can get a product within a week for them.

These are what you call spreadsheet changes that have no actual benefit to the game itself and only truely benefit an artificial metric within their organization. Job security for them, got it, but casuals like myself and others (which is supposedly their target audience) gets neglected.
