I’ve been playing this series since 1997. In D1 I could drop items for friends. In d2 I could trade. In d3 we had an AH until they removed it(which at that time moved me back to d2.)
Then D4 came. At launch I hated it… then Trading became more reasonable.
Now, we have a playerbase that hates the trading and for me personally trading and seasons are the only reason I play anymore and getting rid of either one might be the mail in the coffin for me.
So you are not really interested in playing the game. Trading is the game you play. Sorry but trading only invites undesirables to ruin the experience for everyone. You don’t need to trade to play the game. I guess you can go back to D2…
trade is what loads the rmt pockets. getting rid of it would take away a huge portion of their income. sure some people would pay for runs, but those would be drastically less. if you dont understand that i am guessing you are just an rmt’er that is trying to come up with halfbaked theories to ensure you can continue to rmt
I used to hate Seasonal theme but it’s just Ladder from D2 renamed and I’m good with it.
Trading however, not so much of a fan of it. Not to say it should go away, it serves its purpose and I may even trade one day when I actually have less time to play during the Season.
My only gripe is that the Trade channel is just infested with tons of gold farming bots spamming and cluttering the chat window. If Blizzard is competent enough to actually monitor their trade chats, it’ll be a lot more bearable.
For now, I just turn off trade chat, but given we don’t have a ‘global’ chat, turning trade chat limits most of its social aspect.
The ‘‘social economy’’ you talk about is basically this:
X Item.
Dude says ‘‘2B for X item’’.
You add the dude and do the trading.
‘‘TY’’ message.
Either you or the dude deletes friend because otherwise friendlist would be full of unknown dudes.
Sure you might have made 1 or 2 ‘‘buddies’’ from trading, but please don’t tell us that you do it for the social because there is no ‘‘social’’ involved in trading. People want the item as fast as possible to face the ‘‘bricked item followed by anger phase’’ as soon as they can.
If we stick to the actual meaning of that, that would be sarcasm coming from an account with 2600 posts in a forum.
Don’t know what to tell you. I play this game solo 99.9 percent of the time and have NO interest in trading. I have one friend that pops on from time to time and I have no trouble trading him items. I play arpgs because I prefer to play solo. If you prefer being social and trading with others then I would recommend sticking with MMOs.
