If they had been already working on the Spiritborn prior to D4’s launch (confirmed by Bjorn in Wudi’s interview which means that the leak is correct), your feedback about what you wanna get for the next class (e.g. Paladin) would be considered at least for the 3rd expansion, if we ever get one. But Blizz can certainly pull the D3’s Necro DLC move.
PS: This also shows us that it does take a long time to create a new content, even for a huge studio such as Blizz.

I’ve no doubt ideas are in the works for the next class, but probably not more then that at the moment. They’re in crunch mode right now for the expansion. Once that’s released they’ll have to put out the fires with the new bugs introduced and balancing. Meanwhile Thing 1 and Thing 2 will be working on their respective seasons.
So in about 6 months maybe more we’ll get a data leak that shows the new class, and everyone will be angry on the forums again because it’s not some holy class.
The “Spiritborn leak” was showing stuff from mid 2022 (alpha build of the expansion, including the Spiritborn name), and D4 was released in June 2023. That gives us an idea how long the expansion was already in the works before launch.
Didn’t know about the 2022 leak, I only remember the other leak I think in September 2023? I forget when exactly.
All we know is if the three main teams, 2 seasonal teams and 1 expansion team. So I’d imagine the next expansion will be in the works soon, but I get the feeling it’s just random ideas floating around right now.
I could be wrong of course. We’ll just have to wait and see what the data miners can find.

I suspect that they have a live team and an expansion team.
The expansion team artists probably finished most of their work a year ago and started focusing on the new expansion, and some of the devs might have already move on from VoH to Exp2. I wouldn’t be surprised if models and animation for the new class and enemies are already under way, or at the very least will be before VoH releases.
I’d suspect an Exp2 announcement around July-September next year, which a launch date of Feb-March 2026.
