The more i play. The more i wish d4 had d2 itemization

I really wish we had open trading…

But…

It doesnt work in this game due to lack of different currencies and lack of interesting loot.

In d2 every item had some value and throughout the entire game you could find an item that could get you a nice peice of gear to make you stronger. D2 had runes, gems, items, anni charms / charms, torches, gold, all of which could be used as currency with runes being the main one.

But what d2 also had was the perfect itemization that allowed a lot of good trades to happen. I really dont understand why they went away from the d2 itemization, why fix what isnt broken? Normal mode had a sword. That sword had a unique version of it and set version. Nightmare mode had its nightmare version and so did hell. All 3 tiers had a set and unique version. Thats 1 sword. The game had many different lvls of 1h swords ALL of which had mtiple rarities and uniques/sets.

People would get excited for a new season and lots of ppl would trade occulous wands early for high prices and Shakos were amazing too (not this 1/50000000000000 chance find) but still rare enough to be worth something. The game had charms, Torches, annis so many things you were looking for to compliment your build and make you stronger.

It was RICH with loot. And at ALL lvls you could find them, give them to alts, trade them, gain wealth and trade for better loot.

Now imagine if this gigantic itemization pool and ability to trade amongst the community, create friendships and trading partners and grow wealth in game was in d4’s expansive open world, ever evolving and growing as a live service game.

Idk about you, but i wouldnt put the game down.

Instead we have this. No runes, no charms, no torches or annis. Limited uniques per class, bland itemization where no items feel different its just “gloves” or “helm” or “2h mace”. Oh but sacred and ancestral? Eh its just a potential higher roll on item power.

D2’s loot ALL felt unique because it was. When you found a falchion 1h sword, thats what it was a falchion. When you found a dimensional shard wand in its unique version you knew you just hit it BIG. All this loot feels bad and i dont why so many ppl didnt like d2 loot. How can anyone argue that its worse than d4?

You just described POE mate. But yes i totally agree. Its incredible how bad the loot system is in d4.

I just dont get it…

They had the opportunity to go back with d4. Go back to fun loot and not the boring loot from.d3… but they took the easy way out.

When i hard shako and what not were in the game i had a spark of hope. But it was shattered on release now i have a stash full of the same looking items all drowned out by the brown background and same art style.

They had so many oppurtunitues. I just cant fathom they made a system where you have nothing more to do after like lvl 60-70. Just get a few ancestrals from wt4 with decent rolls and all items are done. Nothing more to hunt for.

Exactly! Whereas in d2 even when i had great loot i STILL wanted to keep playing because i.was building my wealth!

I don’t want another D2. They put D2R out there for ya, go play that. No need to toon D4.

Almost no one wants to go back to D2. D2R is there is you want to play it.

Im talking about the itemization not the game itself.

What does d4 do better loot wise than d2? Tell me.

This is my outlook. I could forgive D3, and they did sorta fix it, because well, it had been so long since D2 and there wasnt anything else out there other than titan quest.

At this point seeing a step back from even D3 launch…im done. They clearly do not know why people play ARPG games (its not the campaign) and seemingly have people making the game that dont actually play ARPGs, are not aware of their competitions, or even whats popular out there in other ARPGs…

Like did they just hire netease to make this? Id beleieve it however, their netease game has more multiplayer functions…and seems to get why people would play an online mobile arpg…even if money grubby…

How about we wait for a few months and let the game mature some. Heck, the end game isn’t even available yet.

Ummm… do you even play d4?

Also loot has no requirement besides level. No stats req and everything taking one spot takes away from the weight of the items. It feels bad. This makes every item feel the same. It’s just another bunch of letters and numbers.

“My barbarian doesn’t have the strength or dex for this item. Let me go level up so I can use it.” Or “I invested a lot in strength to use heavy armor and maces so this sword isn’t really for my build, I’ll save it for when I make a different character” They removed a whole element of loot and character planning. Just equip whatever you want! Find the next biggest numbers you’re looking for. Everything is the same.

What? Yes it is. That doesn’t mean we all like it, but it’s there. Lol

The item stats are extremely convoluted and I really dislike that.

D2’s itemization was better in that respect.

I don’t know, or care, about this whole “% dmg to vulnerable/poisoned/CC’d/etc…”

D2 has better loot hands down. It’s not perfect, Engima is a problem and certain runewords probably should be rebalanced, but it’s a lot more enjoyable. Picking up items just feels so much more rewarding in D2.

Blizz forgot why we play these games. To slay demons, look at cool spell effects and get fun loot!

The loot part is missing in d4.

Ummm nope. Seasons are not available yet.

No offence. But nothing you are saying addresses the itemization. Season 1 isnt going to magically fix itemization. Its forever borked in d4.

Yeah, after the 999,999,999,999 Baal run that’s what everyone thought .

I will say gear suddenly capping out very early and paragon having the brunt of your power at the end doesn’t feel good. Honestly, I would rather gear and paragon not be as important and skills having way more power behind them. At least less important than now.

Yeh but imagine it in d4’s world. How amazing!
