The many contradictions of D4

  1. Loot game with not enough stash space to store loot
  2. Hardest end-game boss has zero rewards
  3. “Play how you want” yet forced meta
  4. “Trading is cheating” so we’re supposed to play SSF in an online game for the best experience
  5. Every item is basically the same yet builds deal 100x more damage than others
  6. The hardest endgame grind (high tier pits) is the least rewarding

I would add to #1, Loot game without any good loot. Or more specifically loot game without any real chance of getting good loot.

I am thinking of its grandfather that caused players to stop, take a deep breath every time they ID’d a gold ring drop. A game that would cause players to stop in their tracks and rush back to town to ID a gold helm knowing it’s class meant they just found NightWing’s Veil.

A few seasons back I did find randomly opening a chest a Starless. That is how the game should be. What we have now are countless and mindless Boss runs where we spend hours hauling trash to sell. That is not a good definition of fun.

Oh yeah, and #3…*$$&# so freaking tired of these ‘meta’ builds each season while the rest struggle to figure out if the character they want to play will be trash that season.

Correct.

can we do the dark citadel or whatever its called solo? I finally unlocked it but i cant find a way to get in that place the npc said i need to team up with someone

If your on eternal I will agree with this. Ive had to start salvaging mythics cause of my hording of them. If anyone runs out of storage space in seasonal its 100% hording.

Nothing is hard but D4 has the higest drop rates of all arpgs. There is only 1 game to mind that beats D4 with instant gratification being D3

Not really but you are significantly penalized in efficiency for not following the D3 flavor of the month modle

Drop rates are so high you dont really need to trade

Balancing issue by design

Its the most rewarding for xp. Nothing even comes close to it. Pit and MW is the endgame after about 10-15 hours hitting lv 60. Sad they stripped away the loot hunt but then again itemization is D3 trash.

You need at least one other person. Cannot do it solo.

guess that adds to another item to the OP lists of contradictions haha best way to play is solo but you cant play solo if you want to do the dark citadel

Was one of the most debated topics on here when it was first announced before the expansion launched. At least it only has cosmetics though.

Citadel is a failure and that makes me happy. Nobody is doing it at least with my friends and such. We need to send a strong message on this or they will make more content like this and lucky for us I believe it had fallen on its face.

I have quit for all intents and purposes. Haven’t logged into the game since the current season launched, but it is entertaining to come on the forums. See if people will still defend the game.

Very high chance we are getting another one of these with the new expansion… they said they are doubling down on the idea.

They want to push multiplayer content so that people buy more cosmetic mtx (to look cool in front of others). It’s about extracting money from a small % of the playerbase. I think they know full well that the vast majority of players are uninterested (at best) in multiplayer-only content.

Don’t be a hoarder.

It has been said many times, Lillith is for the challenge, not the loot.

Who forces anyone? There’s always bis in every ARPG. If you fell for this PR pull, that is on you.

No one ever said that. But I would love a proper SSF mode.

Bug, unintended iteractions and not equal skill support form uniques and aspects. Yeah it’s realy bad.

Yeah, that also pretty dumb. But hey! Atleast tha casuals are happy! :unamused:

The mindset of people in charge knowing this is mind blowing.

Feedback: Consumers don’t like or use this feature in our product.

Company: We need more of it. Double down on it.

Even from a pure marketing and sales viewpoint it makes no sense.

I wasnt a fan of the Dark Citadel at first, but I have grown to like it. I like the low cosmetic gear drop chances and the boss designs. I am not asking for more of the same, but if I had to choose which game activity should be reworked next, then the Citadel would be low on my list.

I ran it a few times with Iggi I don’t care for cosmetics but I did get a lot of the different scrolls.

“but as I said before, nothing in Diablo IV is going to require partying up. You can play Solo, and dungeons are private, and campaign quest areas will remain private.” - Angela Del Priore, 2019 Q&A

dont give up hope. there is a new arpg made by D1 & D2 devs
Moon Beast Productions

Point number 4.

Diablo 2 was the same after the Expansion, with 50$ you could buy a full Hammerdin (Enigma) with Hell mode unlocked.

For Annihilus + Torch and and the Best Charms you had to pay extra extra

This was 20+ years ago and the service was super fast online even at that time.

Thats why the playerbase wants SSF or Offline mode, we dont want to deal with duppers/cheaters and hackers

Dark Citadel was a perfect opportunity for them to make solo only content and earn cosmetics and loot. We have party for everything else. Why not some cool solo only content? But no they want 2 players to have to stand on stupid plates or do 2 areas at same time or stupid crap like that. Pls Bliz git gud at knowing the player base.
