The Idiocy of Legendary Items

In D4, legendary items have some kind of affix which alters your build. The problem is that they don’t understand what is “legendary” in the first place. It seems, they think, that something is legendary, if people know it by name, and there are some “legends” (for ex. on forums), about that item.

Consider this: “a legendary SC2 player”. How does it sound? You know him by name, but that’s NOT what it means, right?

In D4, some legendary trash, drops almost immediately, so it’s like being a “legendary SC2 player”, from the Bronze league.

to sum it up : you think “legendary” is too big of a word for something so common

which is true i guess, but so is “rare” or “unique”

was the case for every aarpg, i don’t think it’ll change any day soon, and isn’t that much of a problem in my opinion, it’s just a name

it’s the case for every game.
Heck, even gacha.

regular things are labeled “rare” instead of “common”, i mean…“rare” being the lowest tier is kinda weird
one “Super Rare” is usually guaranteed along the “rares” meaning it’s not even “rare” , let alone “super rare”
and “Super Super Rare” aren’t that rare aswell.

they are just random words to make some players believe they are lucky or that they should be happy to have found it, atleast when they are new to the game

Such a big problem! Didn´t realize name for some items is so bad! I uninstaled at that very moment, thank you for insight.

So far two people responded to you and we both think you have problem with Blizzard wording.

Maybe problem is not our IQ but your ability to express yourself properly.

The naming is irrelevant.
But the itemization design is bad.

Make Rares useful, and potential BiS items (without an imprint).
Move tempering affixes back to when the item drops.

Nah, was obvious to me what he meant, and he has valid points.
The only items in D4 that really is legendary at this point is a triple GA with perfect tempers.

I checked it once more. 80% of his text talking about naming and it is close to irrelevant.

Not a fan of loot bloat to… But If they would rename brown loot to common it really won´t change anything

Vlad… I wrote a short impression, because I don’t have time and patience to explain everything in detail. I hope that somebody from Blizzard will read this, and think about it. I’m basically trying to fix the “loot hunt” across the game.

“Less loot (optionally more valuable). We have loot bloat” would work better. Seems shorter and more clear. If that is what was your point (agree btw).

Listen buddy I am bored at work so I am trolling a bit, I know.
But your text really implied your main problem is that brown loot is named Legendary and you don´t like it, bcs it is to common.
It is true, but it is also so insignificant I hat to point that out.

BTW, in D2 we had “unique” items, and they were UNIQUE. I mean, that they were “very special”, but NOT always very powerful. That’s because D2 designers, had some respect for English, and did not treat you like idiots. In D4, you are ENTITLED to be “legendary” around level 25. You know, it’s like all those modern “participation trophies”, etc.

So I was right, your problem is with naming common items “legendary”.

Its kind of funny to label such items as legendary. At this point a Legendary is as followed

Legendary = White Item
Legendary 1 GA = Blue Item
Legendary 2 GA = Rare
Legendary 3 GA = Legendary

But in all honesty they don’t feel legendary they feel more like common gear at this point. Decked out head to toe in legendary with the occasional Unique. The only true feeling of a “legendary” item would be Mythic Unique ( only cause it glows purple ).

It goes deeper, it’s how they think about their players, about their business. It’s something like this: they think Diablo is a crap game for some losers, who want to kill a lot of time, because they are bored. Thus, they label it as “legendary”, so that some insecure losers, can feel better about themselves. -_-

Instead of thinking of them as Legendary, think of them as Orange bois.
Sometimes you have to lie to yourself to feel better when the OCD train starts chugging.
Orange bois need to drop often or the Codex will not progress.

I know I’m going to waste my time responding to you but it needs to be said.

Diablo used to be an ARPG, short for Action Role Playing Game. I understand D4 is not that anymore which makes things a bit frustrating but anyway. The role playing aspect is as important as the action. They’re selling you a fantasy, and if it doesn’t make sense or it’s poorly made, it breaks the immersion.

Diablo 4 outside of the campaign is a very poorly made game. It lacks everything a decent ARPG would have. That’s one major reason why people hate this game.

I would like to receive less legendary items. I don’t like that at level 30 you can use all the legendary items. I hope this rain decreases in the level 60 rework. I hope it slows down.

This is the most logical statement on the fourms regarding loot rarity. :+1:

You know, I was literally just sitting here thinking about it and it kind of just dawned on me. As I was typing it out i was like wow no way thats literally how it is LOL

Yep, tho ill say 1ga is dropping far more frequent in S5 then S4. Or at least that been my experience thus far but i only have a couple hours into the season.

You do realize that if they lower the item drops you will not be able to make a build work until later, as the games builds are based on Orange boi aspects.
