The Distilled Fear droprate has made me quit this season

I have officially decided to quit this season until I see a patch note increasing the drop rate of Distilled Fear to 100%. As much as I have enjoyed many of the changes Blizzard brought to season 2, this one problem alone is enough to drive me away from the game.

It takes me a one hour grind in helltides to get enough for 2 Grigoire fights.

I can do 1 or 2 blood harvests to fight Varshan twice.

Both of those work me towards a Duriel fight at the same time. In total, 3-4 hours of play time and I can farm enough for 2 Grigoires, 2 Varshans, and a Duriel fight.

Sprinkle in World Bosses and Legion Events as they pop up and I can get enough for a Lord Zir fight in only 15-30 minutes of play time if I show up at world bosses at the right time.

Then there is the beast in ice. Who takes 9 Distilled Fears for one fight. And thus far, I’ve run well over 100 NMDs this season and just now got my 18th Distilled Fear to the fight the beast for a second time. Both times failed to drop my ring of course. 50 NMDs… at about 5 minutes per dungeon… is an absolutely ridiculous time constraint to fight the Beast compared to all the other bosses. And when the Beast has the one item I’m target farming this season for the specific build I want to make work, then season 2 becomes unplayable for me. So until I see a patch note increasing the drop rate of Distilled Fear, I’ll see you all for season 3.

Something is up with the drop rate. I got 9 right away then it stopped working at all then something changed and i was getting about a 50% droprate for the next 10 nmds and now it isnt dropping at all i just ran 12-15 and not a single drop its just bugged or something please fix it its so frustrating and i dont even need anything from it so i can only imagine if i did.

I have went from level 90-95 and only picked up 3 of them… ran NM dungeons exclusively for the most part… few world bosses in between.
frustrating to not see the camp fire chat address this only the steel drop…

Agreed.

Ran nightmare dungeons all weekend and got 6. And the loot isn’t really that great. Blizzard talks about “respecting player time”, this definitely ain’t it. Totally lame.

At the current drop rate, it should only take one distilled to summon the Ice Monster. Or, if it’s going to require 9, then it should drop at the end of every NMD.

I agree.

I love running 31+ dungeons for the “chance” at a drop. They should be more dropping when doing a lvl 80 dungeon than 1 at a time as well when they do drop. They need to fix this since I am trying to get the oculus wand and it is a pain to get the summoning materials too farm for it. This combined with the living steel scarcity makes it a pain to farm any of these bosses outside of Varshan since his summon items are common.

Yup, I am in the same boat. I also have super low drop rates on distilled fear and malignant hearts. Moderate on the other mats except hands, heads and bones. Also the ash things that drop in helltides are hit or miss on drop rate. I have found if they arent dropping, leave and try another helltide. I just dont understand why they like these ridiculous gates on everything. Kills the fun and then you really feel the grind.

I hate NM dungeons to begin with and I have all of 2 Distilled Fears.

There is a line where grinding feels fun and one where it feels pointless. I’m on the latter side of the equation between the low glyph xp and horrible drop rates for anything useful, including boss summoning mats.

Agree. I have 3 characters now that all need gear that just doesnt drop like last season. A necro, a barb and a sorc. NMD drop rate should be at least 100% for a certain range. Or at the very least let me convert my exquisite blood 1:1 at the alchemist.

I’m also running over nd100s on season and did 3 fights of this boss.
