One of the things standing out for me, the main complaints are bugs and farming. It isn’t that I have to spend hours to farm what I want for my build, but the reality I spend hours/days/weeks farming for materials/gold only to be farming again in 5 minutes.
And, RNG isn’t horrible in this game. What is horrible is the drop rate of what you need vs. the number you recycle because RNG tempering didn’t land on the one your build needs and cannot be tempered anymore.
If they want massive RNG like we have then what you need should almost rain from the sky because without the right tempering it is junk for the character.
I have eternal characters from day one that still don’t have tempering needed for the build… Over a year and no luck for me.
Yep the lack of vision is alarming. Game launched between d2 and d3 fine even s1 nerf patch was for the greater good. Then people complained it’s too hard so they went into powercreep season after season. Then people complained it’s too easy so they reverted many things. They should pick a direction and go with it because if they keep “listening” to the community well… it won’t work because doesn’t matter what you do, the satisfied people will be silent and you will just hear the complaints from different people.
I don’t think that’s true of everyone playing arpg’s. If it were then one shotting Duriel over and over should represent peak fun. If that were true, then I wouldn’t be bored facerolling randomly pressing buttons the hardest difficulty in the game. If that were true, I wouldn’t have quit the season before Halloween.
There’s a quote in life that kinda fits your character, “the climb to the top of the mountain is more fulfilling than the view from the peak”. Too many players want to be helicopter lifted to the top, and when Blizz facilitates that, the fulfilling aspect of the character journey is lost for those who value that.
Rightnow, for me the seaosn is over.
Too many problems and no rewards.
I won’t stop playing POE2 and other games just to attend this event.
fix sorcerer for Good’s sake!
Honestly, D3 had the power fantasy in droves and then some. I don’t think it’s necessary for every game to be this way. I never wanted D4 to be like that, yet it is.
Playing POE2 is showing me that what I had in mind when it comes to combat mechanics and challenge out of an ARPG can be possible, fun, and quite popular amongst various types of gamers. Admittedly, it is a bit validating in that sense.
Will D4 get any of that? No, I don’t think so. The team carved their path already, and almost 2 years post launch and with an expansion out, it’s fair to say that’s their vision. This is the experience. Sure, there may be more content down the lone or even a new mode or 2, but I doubt the formula will change much if at all.
Are you guys all just going to ignore the fact that PoE 1 end game you are blazing around the map 1 shot things exactly like D4 and D3, and then some. The difference is how complex the game system is.
In PoE 2, specifically end game, you will literally achieve the same thing. Even Johnathan Rogers said during his live stream video of the game, he showcased every character early stage and end game build variations and you can see you will be zooming and blasting… He even said you would feel like a god…
Personally, I don’t care about what POE 1 did. The second game is very different.
Having said that, we don’t know exactly how the endgame will evolve in POE2 but right now the game has a unique approach on combat so the power fantasy aspect is not so important. There are lots of goodies for the player to enjoy other than just feeling like a god and exploding screens. Which is a valid play style for anyone that enjoys that, it’s just that there’s a sense of earning things in POE2, unlike D4 where they give you everything just by logging in.
By comparison, D4 is all about the power fantasy with not much else to enjoy.
This is what I was getting at in my original post as well - As i touched based on this idea a bit I want to just say it again…
D4 does not hand everything to you when you log in. There is a reason why some people, who play a lot, will last for few weeks before they finish their character , depends on what the goal is for said players, but usually weeks of play if you are super hardcore. And for average gamers or casual gamers, D4 season typically will last for months.
It also depends on the season. S6 really sucked and not so good. But a good season, which we previously also had, kept players playing for considerable amount of time .
Feels/sounds like over complicating all of this. Games that are played for fun (not professionally in any sort) simply need to be just that…fun…for the intended audience. Balance in all areas is key to that. If someone outside the intended audience deems it unfun, thats to be expected. D4 seems to be changing its intended audience each season…which leads to different groups haveing and not having fun every 3 months.
Seems to be somewhat working…there were soooooo many players at launch that even losing as many as they have, the numbers are still good…
while I agree that D4 seems to have a hard time making up its mind seasons after seasons, which feel odd and strange to me. But , I cannot speak for other people. The change in direction D4 has displayed thus far seems to be still within my scope of acceptance lol
But , a change so massive like all of a sudden it swings over to PoE 2 direction, that would be huge in my opinion and that I would not be able to tolerate anymore will likely quit playing altogether .
Happens when people play Meta builds and they nerf. I always play my own builds both in D4 and Poe. Homespun in Poe is lots of theory crafting. D4 really is missing any depth.Season 4 was ok with the new loot system.
That was the last season i played, bought Voh but i don’t care for it much. I think it’s too far down the D3 path now to change all that much,it’s just a reskin of D3 now.
Lol… Yea, they have been quick on the nerf for sure. I am sure they don’t want players to have the same impression as their game to relate to Diablo I guess.
D4 and D3 gives you so much power fantasy and dopamine hit I mean, to some it is terrible. But again, some people really like that and play for that.
I honestly don’t believe the notion of a game cannot be both for casuals and diehards. That’s Why diablo have difficulty settings.
They just need to decide how the progression should be. If your answer is doing same things over and over in the shortest time possible, than you get D4.
It’s too early for me to speak about the other one but I’m playing it for about 20-25 hours now and I enjoy my warrior more than I enjoyed barbarian. It has its issues, I’m not %100 on board but nothing too bad for now.
most game comes with some kind of difficulty slider, even souls game do.
not sure why PoE 2 does not have any kind of difficulty setting whatsoever. Maybe they have a vision ? But i sure would prefer one probably would had me playing it if they did have a difficulty slider
90+% of souls games do not have a difficulty setting.
Cause the idea of it is that there is a fxed challenge and you learn to overcome it
Yes exactly. They have a vision. That is why PoE2 is so much fun and will only improve with each update while D4 is doing 2 steps for 3 steps back with each update.
