And you are missing my point. It started with no skill system, then gained an interesting skill system, which also got iterated on to make it deeper over time. Then it abandoned the skill system, and then it gained a simple one back, over all the time that people have been asking for more and deeper. It is not about McDonald’s selling cars, it’s about McDonalds selling Big Macs and Quarterpounders instead of just hamburgers and cheeseburgers.
It may be that the developers intended for the skill system to be simple and without any depth. And if that is the case, then they are dead wrong, it was a terrible decision that should be corrected.
