You ever look at an armor set and think son of a diddly, this would look GREAT on my barb, but it’s a druid or necromancer set. Or certain spiritborn sets on other classes etc.
Maybe not every set should be wearable by every class. But we already have weapon transmogs that can be used by multiple classes. From a business sales standpoint if an armor set was wearable by 2 classes potentially that’s double the profits. There are plenty of people who see a cool armor set and think gosh darn it because they will never play the class that is wearing it. A second class option would reduce the gosh darniters.
I’m pretty sure they would have put a lot of research into the most profitable approach.
Locking a lot of cosmetics to certain classes probably means that people are more likely to purchase new stuff for their alts because they want them to live up to their main toon.
But what do I know. I’ve never done a day’s marketing.

I play barb. Sometimes I see an armor set that would look cool on a barb but it’s for another class. I’m sure many other 1 class players have felt the same. I do get though that thematically a set is meant to represent 1 class.
But barb and necro share a lot of weapon transmog choices. As do other classes with each other. I realize making some sets dual class could be an awkward transition for the art team. But it’s worth a thought.
Maybe come out with sets that are specifically dual class. Barb and druid, sorcerer and necromancer.
yeah, i want that skimpy spiritborn bikini for my sorc, and i believe the spiritborn would love the shoulder pads from the sorc armor.
Yeah I’ve had that a few times. There’s a necro set I like but I don’t play necro.
But I think they have a profit related reason, I don’t think it’s an oversight.
Totally tangential, but… for some reason this reminds me of a thread in which someone bemoaned the fact that base armor types (with attribute requirements & added armor) were removed from the series with D3 & D4, meaning there’s no real Plate class anymore (for example)…
And someone chimed in that, yes, there are plenty of plate armor transmogs, so what’s the problem.
Times have changed.
Always. Problem is they lock to 1 class. 2800 platinum and 1 class…this is why i dont buy many. I only buy what i think will show skin (females) or looks mean and bada$$ on it. I would be open to buying more if they would just allow all classes to use them.
The issue is that the different classes have different body shapes, some more so than others but it can still cause clipping, which looks awful. If they allowed the Sorce armour to be put on a Druid people would complain it doesn’t look right.
Either that or they need to make it so the armour scales vs body type which even MMOs and 3PRPGs struggle to get right, which is why many don’t allow extreme body proportions in the character editor.

Some skins have been redesigned for other classes and sold separately. Sadly its just a cash grab
Also: how smoothly the gaming industry got us to forget the initial appeal of transmogs, which was to commemorate a cool piece of gear you acquired through combat or exploration. Now the ‘combat’ or ‘exploration’ is choosing which RMT shop scheme to buy into, and complain about how shops have changed over time. Weeeeeeird.

I think they’re overpriced, so I don’t have this problem.
