The Codex power dungeon rewards should probably be removed

I think a big issue with the loot system in this game is the codex of power. It makes finding legendary items feel mostly meaningless for the player.

By the time you’ve reached level 50 you have the majority of the legendary powers you need from farming Codex rewards, which leaves you with only a few things to look for when grinding through nightmare dungeons and higher world tiers. This makes finding legendary items in the mid and late game unrewarding other than the extra gold you get from selling them.

I think initially it might feel bad to have those powers removed at first but in the long run it would feel a lot more exciting when you find legendary items with the powers you need on them. The codex could instead be used to store aspects you’ve found from drops so you don’t need to waste stash space.

To offset this loss of power in the early game the magic/rare items could be buffed. Not to mention the massive buffs coming in the next patch to legendary drops.

Just a thought I had today.

The less the reason to do something, like run a dungeon, the better. I suppose.

What. Codex has higher imprint cost and rolls low end only. You don’t want them unless you really need to. The problem is that these can’t be upgraded.
so it’s basically the other way around. Codex should get improvements and legendaries should be removed in my opinion. It’s just stupid to have items drop only for the imprint.

After the next patch you’ll be guaranteed a legendary at the end of every dungeon after level 35. So you’ll always get one. Might not be the one you need, but that’s kind of my point. Gives you a reason to be a little more excited when you do get the power you need for your specific build.

I do think you end up with full yellows to fast

im down to remove the codex altogether.

it costs more mats than an extracted power and it gives you the lowest roll.
terrible value.

take it away i wont bat an eye.

Imprinting aspects early is the best thing this game did.

Codex of power is an amazing system and should be improved, not removed.
By improved I mean we should have a way to store aspects and have unlimited use.

FOR EXAMPLE.
“Basic skills grants 20% damage reduction for x seconds (2-8)”

So I got a piece of this aspect with 6 seconds instead of 2.
I then will sacrifice that item to upgrade my Codex.
Now I can imprint that aspect unlimited times with that higer value.
Nice, I got a 8 seconds piece, sacrifice to upgrade the Codex;

This is exactly what The Division 2 did with the recalibration system, it works perfectly, it forces players to farm, it forces players to keep getting better loot, it forces players to still get a 3/4 piece of gear.

It would solve stash space and aspect clutter.

The low roll on a lot of them isn’t that big of a deal. There are only specific ones like Umbral that are really underpowered in the codex. I agree the Codex should be able to be upgraded, but I think the legendary powers should come from drops and not dungeon completion rewards.

I didn’t exactly specify on how it can be upgraded. But since there is no way of identifying items unless you put them in your inventory this itemclutter needs to be toned down.

I’m not fully married to this idea. I was just thinking about how meaningless most legendary drops are as I’m vendoring them all for the 1000th time since season today. And that I’ll be having to vendor more after the patch when one drops from every boss.

Right now the only real use of the codex is to get a couple of builds online for the leveling process like twisting blades/iceshards ect. Once you reach the mid game you have a ton of saved aspects besides the resource ones that only appear on rings.

As for legendaries they should at least make the cost of rerolling legenaries the same as rare items nowadays I prefer seeing rare items than legendaries tbh.

Personal option legendaries and codex just need removed completely.

Change aspects to be direct drops and treat them like poe skill gems

  1. add stand alone socket for rares and uniques to equip the aspects
  2. Aspect power is now based on lvling system (no more bad rolls, just low level you can improve. This would allow them to stack based on level if you have more than one you’re saving)
  3. Aspects earn exp as you do while grinding
  4. Can still use occultist to charge for unequiping if needed like jeweler for gems
  5. At least triple (or more) uniques items, make hearts semi perm until they can add something better to supplement so there is still some variety in items to farm for
