Random death has never been fun and solo you’re only goiing to have a slight chance in hell of killing him if he bugs out.

I killed him six times on tier 1. I’ve been waiting for him to pop on tier 3, but I think he’s nervous.

Just got him on my fireball sorc (t3) …it was definitely a challenge but not impossible.

To you he isn’t… a lot of us quite enjoy the butcher, it’s pure nostalgia.
lol. someone was feeling sassy until The Butcher came along. I felt the same way. After I stomped the Act 1 boss and then a few minutes later I have a 10 minute slug fest with The Butcher and he ends up getting me.
2nd time he mopped the floor with me.
Hey, He’s THE Butcher! It would be lame if he was just some other boss.

I was just in a dungeon and triggered something that spawned everything and there was this huge werewolf with a huge meat cleaver and when he hit me it took half my health, and I was like, “oh @#$%!!!” I did some dodging and maneuvering and survived, but that werewolf is more scary to me than The Butcher. And, during that fight the unique for werebear trueform was dropped. I wanted the werewolf version, though. 
? How are you dying to the butcher on either WT1 or WT3? He’s just not that hard. If you are running WT2 that’s you wanting the challenge.

Im only 47 firewall/hydra sor WT2 and on my way to act 2, clearing dungeons and doing side stuff atm. Nothing has been overly difficult though somewhat time consuming being the nature of my build, but the Butcher is by far the most difficult thing I’ve encountered so far.
I just can’t seem to keep enough distance and he whittles my health down. If i could stay two steps ahead i could jsut let my hydra/ snake, and firewall and about 10 minutes get him down but that hasn’t happened yet.
I agree with the OP in the sense that “The Butcher” encounters are not fun and should be balanced. I’ve run into this rando a couple times and ended up running away to de-spawn him which is disappointing as I don’t mind a challenge - if it’s balanced. Why?
- CC doesn’t work on him whereas they work as intended on other mobs.
- Not enough burst to outpace his damage / debuffs. I.E. Barely any damage done to Butch vs. I’m out of health pots and about to die.
- I was able to solo the T2 dungeon and open up T3. I had to think about the fights and failed the first attempt to get geared up. Was it a challenge, fun and felt balanced - yes! The Butcher is none of these.
Characters:
Lvl. 15 Flurry spec rogue Tier 1 dungeon - Couldn’t dodge his attacks, CC him or do any damage.
Lvl. 53 Pulverize spec druid Tier 2 and 3 dungeons. Same issues and with all the added mitigations to this build still had to run.
Both of these characters can run the same Tier dungeons solo without issue when Butch isn’t around.
He killed me the first time I met him when I was, like, level 12 or so. Ever since then, I just see him as a free legendary. He has no chance against me now.
I wouldn’t mind honestly but he shouldn’t be in nightmare dungeons
Only thing that worked was have summons on Necro. The first time I ran into the Butcher he could be body blocked by summons and actually bugged so pinata’d his butt.
Since that encounter he has now apparently got some new ability that pushes summons out of the way and he can’t be blocked for long. I still survived this second encounter on my Necro but only by running around my summons and using the limited body block to my advantage.
My Rogue had to run out of the dungeon because he can’t be CC’d, at least not by me, and if I get too far ahead he sprint stuns me. Luckily I was not far into the dungeon and it had a lot of zig zag turns I could block his LoS and was able to escape.
I like that he is kind of like the Nemisis of RE 1 and/or 2 where he shows up by smashing through walls and scares the crap out of you. I don’t like that he basically is an unstoppable killing machine that requires a crap ton of movement to even survive.
I’ll normally either try to engage and if going good try to kill him, try to avoid him if I don’t want to mess with him, which hasn’t happened yet, or I try to escape. Necro right now I think is only class I killed him with. I might have killed him with either Barb or Sorc but don’t remember. Never did kill him with Druid or Rogue though.
EDIT: The only thing I can hold above the Butcher is that he has yet to kill one of my toons but my Rogue came very close to being the first. Running for your life is not fun, lol.
he’s a loot pinata. I’m generally happy to see him unless I know my build is bad.
Tellme how it went on T4 and in 35+ NM dungeon.
Once he gets to the point where he’s constantly putting up Fortify shields, he’s annoying. Because our stuff is on cooldown often, our chance to deal damage to him is small. So it’s not fun when he constantly gets fortify back.
His drops are the same as anything else. Bad.
He’s great fun in a group. The “Aaaah, fresh meat” and discord erupts in chaos.
Then I watch while my friends run around trying to get away from him, laughing at their antics. Eventually he turns to me and I face tank him while my bros finally get the chance to burn him down (pretty quickly I might add). Great way to mix up doing T4 Nightmare runs. Wish there where more like him…
TLDR: Your build makes all the difference.
To be honest i very much like the butcher. In the ever lacking content of late game, butcher is a nice mashup. I would want alot more of stuff like that.
He’s not difficult. Killed him a couple times going through the game for the first time, WT2 on a Sorc with a bad chain light + hydra build.
Killed him more in WT3 with an arc lash build.
Killed him MORE leveling a Minion Necro.
He’s easy if your build isn’t just intentionally horrid, and he’s doable if you’re even remotely familiar with ARPG mechanics.
Oh, and he has managed to kill me too, but that’s what I get for being cocky. Lol
