The Butcher - Add Resilience in Torment Difficulties

For Season 8, with the theme of more challenging bosses, I would like to propose a miscellaneous change that The Butcher spawning in Torment Difficulties gets the same treatment as World Bosses in terms of being more resilient to damage. In the higher difficulty tiers, it’s important he still instills fear when players hear the words “Fresh Meat.”

  • The Butcher is now more resilient to damage in Torment Difficulties.

Don’t play the most broken build and you’ll actually have to fight him.

No. No more Resilience. Resilience just negates player progress. If Resilience is to remain and/or be added to other things it needs a massive rework first.

Or just balance the game right and it isnt an issue. Right now necroes can kill him by spitting a blood wave and barbs can kill him by just farting earthquakes. While that can be fun, its not good for the overall health of the game.

Try a stormhorn sorc. He’s not a threat, but he IS a bullet sponge that takes time to kill.

Resilience is never the answer. Never.

The Butcher poses no threat. If they add resilience then it’ll take longer to kill him but he’s still no threat at all.

He wouldn’t be tough, he’d just be annoying.

Significant updates are needed, not just “oh now he only takes 5% of the damage you output”.

Just scale down the player damage appropriately and problem would be solved by itself really

NO, we don’t need it prolonged by barriers or more life. Make him hit harder and more often. And stop using Meta builds.

Meta builds will exist forever, because there will be always someone that wants to override the system and have a build best that anyone else.
That’s the real fact, and there’s no way that can be ever worked around.

So, deal with it and play the way you want to play.

I am playing a pure summoner with forzen orb…and I made a thread about how easily he died when I saw him. It is not a meta or copied build.

Lightning spear is still overpowered and does too much damage. Any build that ramps up LS damage will trivialize all of the basic content.

Resilience should be removed from the game in general. The biggest nonsense that has ever been added.

Yep don’t like resilience and cheap barriers put everywhere to give a transparent illusion of more power balance.

Just bandaids that really cheapen the experience and detract from interest on being involved with it at all.

Probably best to just remove the Butcher–the love/hate relationship with him in relation to difficulty has been absurd. Early seasons were littered with complaints about his difficulty, now he is too easy and no one be happy with him.

At the very least, maybe a shrine to summon him would be cool? If you want the challenge, summon him, if you dont want to fight him, you just dont? He does need to be harder, but the playerbase has been pretty back and forth

That is perfectly fine but the factor matters… If “Meta” does 1000x or in the latest cases of 1 MILLION X then no offense - there’s no defense for that design

I mean S1 had like 15x Meta compared to non-Meta and was still too much

People do that, until they get against a Tormented Boss in a 1v1 and realize how dumb the design (some people can 3-shot them whilst others required to play at least a 20 minute pixel perfect fight)

That’s an interesting idea, add a Butcher shrine in NMDs/Cellars and leave an offering to summon him. His challenge would be much higher, but have better rewards.

Resilience was a mistake.

The simplest solution is to add a mechanic to it: instakill 5 times in a row with an interval of 3 seconds. Just like on Uber Lilith now.
