The boss changes completely destroyed the honest market

The main reason why the honest market in Diablo 4 has been destroyed is the terrible change in the drop rate of the bosses, basically all bosses except Belial have terrible drop rates if you are lucky you get an item with 1 Ga, what is the consequence of this that all the materials like Bloods, Hearts, Fears, etc, lose their value completely since the only thing that matters are the Betrayer’s Husk is the only material that has value because Belial’s drop rate is the only way to obtain the real quality drops, killing the other bosses feels like a waste of time and without reward.

I’ve experienced this problem, I’ve tried to trade other materials with other players this season, and no one wants them unless they’re Betrayer’s Husk. When before they had a significant value and you could receive good gold by trading them with friends or other players in the game, now farming materials is like accumulating junk in the stash.

Another big problem is that for an honest player like most of us who want to get items via farming, the changes to boss materials are a ridiculous and severe punishment since for the honest player farming Betrayer’s Husk is very slow and deficient, because unlike the other materials, the Husk has a random element and there is no way to drop them 100% with any activity like the other materials, which causes the market to become corrupted and dominated by people who use cheats, people who dupe items and have bots working 24/7, it is the sad reality the changes encouraged cheating and the dishonest market, I tried all week to trade stacks of Husk with gold and nobody wants to trade me, since everyone tells you that only with real money, this is complete disgust and sadness what is happening in the game, since all the materials except the Husk are worthless and the value of gold is also worthless.

It really bothers me that there’s a cheat market, and I’d like to see changes to improve honest trading between players and friends with gold returning like it did in past seasons. It’s very sad to see the current state of the game in that regard.

That is capitalism.

If you found no one to trade, maybe your “honest” market doesn’t exist in the first place.
This is a fanatsy game and every market there is a fanatasy market and not a honest or dishonest one.

I’m not a fan of the situation but it is, like it is. The game market mirrors the attitude of the players.

I don’t trade and my Boss mats are for my personal use but I agree with you on the fact the changes made this season to the Bosses are a true regression.

We are back to what we had in S4 and S5 when you had to rely on RNG to be able to do the only Bosses providing decent loot. At that time, the RNG item was the Stygian Stones and the worth to do Bosses were the Tormented versions. Now, instead of the Stygian Stones, we have the Apparitions and the Husks that give us a chance to do Belial, the only Boss with decent loot.

I really don’t understand how so many can defend that, saying it is an improvement. I have no problem with Bosses with invulnerability phases. Just don’t artificially prolong the fight if in the end the quality of loot we receive is even worse than it was in previous seasons.

Oxymoron.

D4 has a serious problem with all of its activities. Including bosses. They need to increase their difficulty and improve the drop. And if the boss becomes difficult in T4, everyone will farm in T3. Because players always choose what is harder.

The boss encounter should be harder, rarer and more rewarding. I don’t want to kill 30 Duriels in a row. There is no challenge here or fun. And this whole problem is made worse by the imbalance of the builds.

Or you can join an active clan who’s willing to help/give you mats to run the bosses you need? :man_shrugging:

I use like one mythic(1GA) and 2 uniques(3GA ring +2GA boots) on my curernt build. Rest are legandaries and they are all 2/3GA .
Most of 2GA+ items comes form every other activity then Bosses.
I use my Boss mats only for me, to hunt Mythics or Uniques. All self found nohing traded.

The amount of husks on the market is clearly the result of duping. Anyone buying them supports the practice, but the current state of the game invites it. When you need 2 stacks of lesser boss materials to drop yourself a single husk, no one wants to do that. Something needs to change, and for the better this time.

I believe that’s precisely the point of the OP. Boss mats have lost their value, except for Belial mats. Players don’t want to run low or intermediate bosses. They get rid of the mats at a very low price or even give them to clan members as you mentioned.

I have the easiest solution for you: stop typing in the URL of the trading website. Just don’t expose yourself to the problem and you’ll find you’re far less frustrated by it. just play the game.

all they need to do is make belial a Torment 10 boss, or just remove it completely, blizzard knew what they were doing with belial, they knew all along that almost anything in this game can be duped and have they even tried to stop it, nope and they never will, im at 89% that those trade sites are run by a few blizzard employees, and that blizzard allows it, and YES they allow it if its still going on, i mean seriously if its so easy to dupe items why havent they stopped it, doesnt take a rocket scientists to figure out how to dupe items

Much better idea is to make Belial materials non tradeable by putting them in the materials tab. That would make them impossible to dupe.

And of course the drop chance of GAs on all other Lair Bosses should be higher, there shouldn’t be a big difference between them and Belial.

What are you talking about? I’m talking about in-game trades. Last seasons, I never had any problems trading boss mats like bloods, hearts, steels, fears, etc. If any of us wrote in the trade chat that we wanted to sell stacks of any boss material for gold, it was super easy to trade, and any material had a decent value, with an average value of 250m-300m per stack. Now, with the changes, they’ve broken that balance, and no one wants bloods, hearts, steels, fears, etc. The only boss material that has any value is the Betrayal Husk. And this was caused by making the drop rates of all bosses except Belial terrible, plus Husk are the hardest material to obtain because there is no activity that gives them to you 100% it is random, so honest players like me had our economy destroyed, now nobody wants my boss materials and nobody wants to sell me Husk mats for gold in the trade chat.

Not having goods others want is usually a sign of oversaturation, which has nothing to do with utility. The argument that Belial is the only vector is a bad one. An economically savvy person would factor how much time it takes to kill Belial vs other bosses, impute a drop rate, and then check for the conversion rate to see if there’s an equilibrium. This would mean that you could actually profit massively from exchanging Husks into other things that are much cheaper if your imputed odds shake out.

This never happened. As long as there is an open market there is a Black Market. Not being impacted by the market’s forces does not indicate the the market doesn’t exist.

I thought 95% of D4 players wanted to play solo?

The damage is done, and it all has to do with Belial’s value. If you compare the value of other boss materials like Bloods, Fears, Steels, Hearts, etc., in past seasons their value was decent, generating more balance in the market because there were more valuable things. Now it’s all about Betrayer’s Husk, which caused the value of other materials to become garbage and consequently gold also lost more value.

The relative value changed, yes.

You forget to mention that with the changes they made they destroyed the market between players, causing and encouraging bad practices such as cheating, benefiting dupes and bots, that is the reality, these changes only affected honest players like us.

Cheating in this game is not new. It sounds like you were just never affected.

Stupid question time but…while I dont disagree with anything you said, how else can you get husks except hoping they drop from other bosses (when Belial shows). Dont you need the mats from the other bosses, no matter the crap drops, to get the husks?
