You guys seem to optimistic about thr next expanion. Blizz cancelled many expansions before. I want to see Diablo himself before that happens but i dont want to dissapoint myself so my hopes aint high.
lmao. you won the forums today hahaha
Is this really the flex you thought it was?
The fact that people are clambering for anything to take the place of D4- doesnât speak very highly of this game.
Now, of course D4 will exist after POE2 and it will continue to sell - both games will. But people constantly hoping for a good alternative to the game they are playing isnt exactly a ringing endorsement of said game.
what it actually shows is how little some people can be taken seriously. So many last chances. final nails in the coffin etc. yet they happily keep playing lol. Maybe arguments would be taken serious for once if people werent so hyperbolic.
Right. Gotcha ok.
If thats how you interpret what is happening right now on these forums, more power to you . Youâre allowed to have an opinion .
I know its hard work to weave through other peoples emotions to try and see the point that they are raising, but it is possible.
The point from all this - this game needs improving . Competition is coming, and whether you like it or not, losing part of the playerbase is not good for the overall health and longevity of this game. d4 isnt dying due to poe2 no, but if it hemorrhages enough players, we will be playing different ARPGS sooner than we want.
it DOES speak highly of the game, since all the people who say LAST CHANCE all the time, during all those times, have come crawling back to D4.
Every time.
so yes, i would say it does in fact speak highly of the game lmao
people have been saying this for a year and a half. Yet here they all are, still on the forums, still playing D4, still playing the new seasons, still going to play the PTR, etc.
Hard disagree.
This franchise has been coasting on the good will of its name and its legacy for a while. You can quote sales numbers all you want, but the general sentiment is that D3 was not a good " DIablo game" and this is becoming the narrative of d4.
That is bad for business. Plain and simple. Dismiss it all you want . Losing any portion of your players is not good for your game. If your a fan of this game, you SHOULD want them to compete head to head. We all win that way .
Youll get no argument from me there. Lord knows I have complained about this game enough over the last year and a half. I am actually in the camp of D4 being one of, if not THE, most broken bugged mess of a game in the entire franchise. A LOT of things blizzard does and doesnt do is bad for business.
I am just pointing out the people on these forums crying all the time about leaving and this being blizzards last chance. Only for them to come back time and again, season after season.
For sure - and I definitely can understand why that is frustrating : especially as a player who still invests time into this game.
I think the fact that they keep returning speaks to the fact, that they WANT this game to be good , and be the best. People dont waste their time on stuff thats not important to them - its why Im here posting on these forums. I have no skin in the game - Im an older man who is just looking for the best diablo game he can find
so many empty phrases really.
duh. Every game does lol. I couldnt say i know a âperfectâ game.
its absolutely fine for the longevity of the game. Some people will prefer d4. some will prefer poe2. and some people, crazy concept, just play both, as both are seasonal games with different season times.
If poe2 is anything close to poe1 in too many ways, it for sure wont be the game for me. Just like im sure that some will prefer it. Just because competition is about to be released, it doesnt mean diablo 4 has to change. games are allowed to have their own identity. You dont like masterworking and tempering you said. Cool, im sure some other people dont as well. Some others however do. Great we got options to play.
its mostly bad for business if sales arent working out. I recently read somewhere how much they make with the overpriced mtx shop alone lol. I actually couldnt believe it.
they keep returning cause (fantasy number) - 80% arent unsatisfied. They turn into hyperbolic karens whenever something rubs them the wrong way. OMG I BRICKED AN ITEM!!! D4 BAD!
In general i think we have quite a few points we can connect. However, competition being a reason to worry wont be one. If anything, itll be healthy. Youd also fool yourself i you honestly thought blizzard doesnt know that poe2 exists, and isnt closely watching how it evolves. just like they paid attention to poe1. But again, it doesnt mean that the games have, or should be the same.
Didnt poe2 actually do a rather big rework a few months ago due to diablo 4?
but yea, to end this post. Seasonal games arent a highly limited buyer market as people turn them out to be. no poe season, nor a diablo season, keeps people engaged for a duration of 3 months and its great that it is this way. People will have plenty of time to enjoy both games, if they chose to.
Thats small potatoes. I know itâs a lot of money but thatâs likely much lower than they set goals for or anticipate. WoW for instance made $5.1 Billion in micro transactions in 2021. Diablo Immortal made $525 million in one year. Like I said, $150 mil is a lot of money but comparatively itâs small potatoes. We donât even know their operating costs.
You think people not coming back doesnât hurt them but if enough donât come back, Blizzard has already shown they can just pull the plug and go maintenance mode. Not saying that will happen. Just saying it could.
I stopped responding.
They dont understand stock price, projections , and shareholders - losing players has a PROFOUND effect on their bottom line - its almost idiotic to suggest otherwise. The SECOND this D4 project of theirs does not meet their profit expectations - say goodbye
Yep, I mean it would likely still be here like D3 but it wont get much more expansion support like D3 got pulled if any and the dev crew would be cut significantly. We know how long it takes them to make stuff with a full crew now.
true, but we also dont know their financial goals for d4s mtx.
of course a game can die, thats absolutely true, however, poe2 for sure wont be a reason for that. Out of all the people who say they hate blizzard here on the forums, and want to quit, id say⌠i didnt see 10% of them anymore. Now of course thats not a metric we can use. but still.
i think you are the only person who doesnt understand how seasonal games work. You literally are trying to convince people that competitors might lead to d4s doom. Yea buddy, for sure. Dont forget we arent talking about the arpg kiddos here, like LE, or GD. we are talking about the two biggest games in that market.
Let alone the fact that they both probably communicate. But please, go ahead and tell us how big of a market expert you are.
No, we donât know their goals. Id be willing to be its much higher than they made though. This game is struggling with consistency. It goes from slow slog to speedy to slow slog. They constantly adjust drop rates, how long it takes to level, weighted RNG, other stuff like this. Like all this stuff they keep making big swing adjustments on and thats definitely because they arenât getting the retention they expect.
Iâm not a doom and gloomer. I donât think PoE2 is going to kill D4. It might take a chunk but it wonât kill it. The devs however need to get this game right. They need to get this game stable in many ways. They need to add some longevity end game loop that isnât just spamming farming content 3000 times. Otherwise, they will never get the retention they are looking for and therefor wont get the sales they are looking for.
Just my opinion.
According to peeps, we be in a VERY deep Last Chance Deficit now. Need to get last chance loan extensions if we want to keep last chancing.
Meh, the biggest problem is the lack of end game. There will be nothing new to do in S7 outside of the season theme. Looking forward to another 500 Duriel runs⌠bluergh.
