Thanks for allowing D4 to run on Windows 7, it runs great and I don’t have to swap over to godawful Windows 10 or 11.
Thanks to all the devs who don’t force us to switch OS for no reason at all.

To be fair, Win7 IS end of life…I hope you have a good host-based firewall and A/V product.
I still get monthly security updates until 2024/2025.
And i haven’t had any viruses or stolen info since like 2005.
If you’re careful where you browse and use firewall/AV, then only dedicated hackers can get to you, if for some reason they want to steal your memes…
It’s absurd how much people hide behind the facade of “muh security” just to blindly update to the latest broken garbage provided by MS/crApple/CrapDroid
Eh, Im not entirely sure that’s the case. We just live in the present and acknowledge things change. I get free licenses also, so why would I use something outdated? Using an end-of-life operating system like Windows 7 for gaming can lead to several issues down the road that I can think of off the top of my head besides security vulnerabilities… Imagine trying to run a new game on windows 95. It isn’t going to go so well might as well move forward at some point
Compatibility: As newer games and hardware are developed, they may not be optimized or compatible with Windows 7, leading to performance and functionality problems.
Driver Support: Manufacturers focus on creating drivers for current operating systems, so you might experience difficulties finding and installing drivers for your hardware on Windows 7.
Performance: Windows 7 lacks the performance optimizations and improvements found in more recent operating systems, potentially leading to lower frame rates and less efficient resource usage.
Online Gaming: Online multiplayer games might not support Windows 7 due to its lack of certain networking and security features.
Future Game Releases: As time goes on, more games will be designed with compatibility for newer operating systems in mind, leaving Windows 7 users with a limited selection.
DirectX Versions: Newer versions of DirectX might not be available on Windows 7, limiting your access to graphical features and performance improvements in games.
No viruses or stolen info you know of.
Windows 7 was good for its time. We all know that 8 and 8.1 was a flop. However windows 10 has easily surpassed the compatibility of what Windows 7 had and Windows 11 went further on.
Windows 7 was sunset was in Jan 2020, which Microsoft allowed customers to pay for extended security support for legacy or older equipment, such as hospital scanning equipment and production line systems.
The dev’s will eventually remove win 7 as a supported OS in future games. Some dev companies specifications for games require a SSD or NVME. Sure you could run it on a spinning disk if you wanted to, but don’t complain that load times are astronomical.
Honestly I agree. I dual boot my gamebox…the windows side is ONLY for gaming, the linux side everything else. I think the only reason I upgraded to 10 was a game wouldn’t run on 7. At home at least, that’s the only reason I ever upgrade to a newer version of windows
right it’s great how all these thieves stole my info and infected my computer and it hasn’t affected me at all in 18 years, what a thoughtful bunch of hackers
That’s cool. Not to hijack your thread but no support for Apple computers was a slap in the face. Prob because they knew Microsoft merger was coming. A lot of corruption in this company
Probably because most people don’t waste their time gaming on ios or buy overpriced crApple PCs to play games, so they won’t waste their development money on that.
There’s probably or about as many people playing video games on that as there are on Linux, considering crapOs is just a Unix subsystem, which is actually even harder to deal with than a Linux subsystem because of its own intricacies.
That was one of the original appeals of blizzard in the 90s/2000s. No other game company was making games for mac. Just confusing how this changed
They were new and had to appeal to as broad an audience as they could, also crapple was acting as if it would be the leader in PCs despite their OS being (and still is) hot garbage, that’s very hard to manage and very counterintuitive to use.
But now people realized what a horrible company crApple is with their overpriced garbage and restrictive OS, so fewer and fewer people bother with it.
I would be scared doing anything on a Win7 box… you probably have 20+ other people watching your keystrokes as you read this.
yeah i’m sure all of north korea and russia is watching me play diablo 4 on my druid pet build and looking at 50s movies on my 2nd monitor
the horror
Hackers don’t even need to steal your personal info… they can just use your box as a zombie node for a bot-net.
I remember upgrading to Windows 7 from Windows XP because WoW kept crashing. Windows 7 was amazing for it’s time. I got Windows 10 as early as I could and I did the same for Windows 11.
there’s literally no point going to windows 11 for the new few years
There’s no downside to upgrading to Windows 11. It runs fine just like Windows 10 and I didn’t have to pay for it.
Sure there is lol… Runs a whole lot better than 7 and 10.
Windows 11 also comes with a built-in spatial audio option for headphones.
