Thanks for the stealth nerf to Helltides

So much for being able to make use of the nice cinder drop rates on alts. The cinders now entirely wipe when you leave the game to log onto your alt. And if you log back to your main, the cinders are still gone. Poof. We finally got something nice enough to make us actually like engaging with the activity and it gets hammered into the ground like so many other things we found enjoyable.

I have to seriously ask: Are you (Blizzard) purposely trying to destroy this franchise? Because almost everything you’ve done this season has been utterly destructive to the game’s enjoyability.

I honestly don’t know what the hell is going on in either the development or managerial departments, but this is getting to be entirely ridiculous. Got a bug that’s making things harder for players? It’s left in until you feel like fixing it. Players found something they really like and it makes them engage more? BAM. Nuked from orbit.

I wasn’t aware that cinders were still there if you logged into another player. I don’t flip flop between characters that often. I know once the helltide ends you cinders go away.

Just prior to the holiday break I took my sorcerer through a helltide and got a bunch of cinders because she can kill stuff far, far faster than my heartseeker rogue can. Then I logged onto the rogue and went into the helltide with the cinders intact. I had enough cinders left over that I could go back to my sorcerer and plow through the helltide and keep enough cinders on a rolling basis to get the chests in that helltide.

I expect the cinders (sadly) to reset after a helltide. Previously if I got disconnected or whatever, if it was the same helltide I’d still have my cinders if I could log back in during that helltide. Now I don’t. They’re gone. This was an instant killjoy and after seeing the cinders I had go poof like that, I just logged off.

This season has been an even worse disaster than the 1.10 patch that nerfed everything into the ground Ret Paladin™ style. The blacksmith legendary cache that was without a level restriction by their own patch notes got a level requirement just one patch into the season (LV 60). Not one word from anyone at Blizzard on that change at all. Total silence. Next season, our whisper caches won’t be transferrable to another character class because they’ll give loot that is determined by the character that got the cache. So if my sorcerer gets a cache and I give it to my rogue, it’ll drop sorcerer loot. Way to absolutely destroy solo alt play. I guess Blizzard is so incensed by the fact most of us prefer to play solo that they’re actively trying to destroy solo play at all costs.

Well honestly the loot is kind of crap anyway. The main reason I use those boxes for alts is for the XP. I assume that is still going to work. Once at level 60 I can take the alt to the barterer and get the same crap loot that comes out of the whisper caches. It will be harder to collect the affixes you need tho

The loot is pretty much crap everywhere. I haven’t noticed any real difference in loot between IH, Pit, Helltide, etc… The only thing that’s been easy this season is Mythics, and that’s just because boss mats rain from the sky.

Sometimes this works when you log out and sometimes it doesnt. I have no idea why but I heard if have a helltide in say fractured peaks and log ur characters out in fractured peaks then it will work for alts or something like that.

I didn’t know this was even possible. I was always under the assumption that you lost all remaining cinders when you log out.

ETA: Holy crap! It worked! The cinders remained even when I switched characters.

I am not aware you can keep cinders after logout. It was an exploit shared by Rob2628 in season 4 :upside_down_face:

It was patched I remember and somehow I watched a video last season it was available again. Nevertheless I never concern about this, I kill the blood maiden for the Whisper cache to farm Rawhide and Veil Crystal. I only use the cinders to open chest for the heart to spawn more maiden. Most of the time I don’t use the thousands cinder I have as opening chest in HT drop junks 90% of the time. I don’t bother about the steel as I have stopped doing rota long time ago to farm mats as the boss drop junks too.

This is not an exploit. Please learn what an exploit is.

Anything that trigger a feature in the game that is not intended design is considered exploits, it was patched after Rob2628 vid few seasons ago and it was working again at certain time. I learned about the definition of exploits from someone made a thread calling for 18 maximum resolves stacks ban. :grimacing:

It is still legit in S6.

well technically it would be considered an exploit if it isnt intended for the cinders to remain after you log on to another character. which if blizz hotfixed it finally, then it wasnt intended and would be considered an exploit.

It’s a bug if anything. Blizzard’s coding incompetence and lack of QA is the exploit here.

That was a different issue where if you logged out right as helltides ended you could log in again and keep them.

What OP is referring to is having cinders on an alt which as always worked. They still expired at the end of the helltides as expected.

Maybe is a stealth nerf as OP said. Actually Blizzard will remove the ability of Alt to open a Whisper Cache claim by another character in PTR.

Maybe someone in Blizzard trigger a code too early without announce in bug fixes.

sounds like a bug/exploit. not sure why a character that didn’t do the run would get to have the cinders.
/edit
it is probably a copy/paste fail of code from the past they re-used.
saw a few of those bugs return.

Thats called a bug not an exploit. Exploiting by player requires them to be bypassing something on purpose. Logging out of your main and logging in your alt and finding you still have 2k cinders is not an exploit. Exploiting can get you banned. This would never get you banned. Get a clue.

Yup, correct. Then try not to make a thread calling 18 maximum resolves as exploit too. No one get banned from doing that. Get a clue.

So exploiting to 18 tempers is not an exploit but using extra cinders is an exploit?

How dumb do u think we are?

As what you said, both actions are not exploit. No one get banned from doing that.

You just called it an exploit? Bad memory?
