Tempering Items

That is a slippery slope argument if I have ever seen one. This is nowhere close to Mrak where you can immediately have whatever you want. You are being dishonest intentionally, and I am not sure why. How much “faster” will it make the game for you? You have to still do the following:

  • Find a Base Item with the 3 Affixes you want, or at least 2
  • Go and Enchant the item to get the 3rd Affix you want if you did not get all 3
  • It needs to be Ancestral
  • Find the Base Item again with GAI with Affixes you need
  • Find the Base Item again with GAII Affixes you need
  • Find the Base Item again with GAIII Affixes you need
  • You may skip GAs and get lucky, but assuming you do find a GAI or GAII, you may also need to Enchant it.
  • Then, at a very Base line, you need to hit the 2 Tempers you need. I am not even talking about at the values you want.
  • If you manage to make it through without hitting both, you have to use a Scroll that you farm to reset it.
  • You only have 1 more chance.
  • Now try to do this and bump up the Temper Affix values. The only way to do this and progress is so get really lucky and not break an item that is unusable.
  • Now, assuming by some miraculous feat you have achieved a GAIII item with 2 Max Tempers, now you have to Masterwork it and hit 3/3 Crits.
  • Tempering costs materials you have to farm.
  • Enchanting costs gold.
  • Resetting Tempers costs Scrolls you have to farm.
  • Now, do this for every single slot.
  • I can almost guarantee you that you do not have a GAIII in every item slot fully masterworked. Especially without Trading, RMT, or playing 5+ hours every single day with weekend stints being over 12 hours.

If the complaint is “I have so many Scrolls and Scrolls make it to where I will eventually get the Temper I want with the value I want”:

  • They can balance Scroll drop rate so while not scarce, they are more Rare.
  • The Enchanting system already worked this way. I did not see a bunch of White Knights complaining about that. You know why? Because it took a lot of time and materials rerolling to eventually hit that Max Affix!!!

Personally, I think the path forward is allowing players to save rolls and make Scrolls be able to be used indefinitely, however, the cost to Re-Temper an item would increase each time it is reset.
