How is it possible to roll the same affix 5 times in a row when there is only 3 options? wtf?
thats a 1 in 81 chance you cant expect me to believe this is RNG
roll a 3 sided dice 5 times. chances are realistic that itll land 5 times on the same side.
do you want more temper augments? maybe 16 options? chances will be rather slim youll hit the same thing multiple times in a row.
no its not its 1 in 81, and yes i would like more, how about 6000 rolls
well, a dedicated guy here did a test and watched 3000 rolls.
Not repeatedly it’s not “likely”… This happens constantly, it’s not like this thread is an anomaly.
yep, because people hardly post when they roll what they want.
maybe i should do that from now on and post every nicely rolled item.
I agree it shouldn’t re-roll same affix, but one of the others, that will make more sense…
I guess it’s because you can re-roll same affix but with better values, that could explain, but me too I don’t like it that much, especially when re-roll count is limited.
Question for you all, have any of you ever tempered a chest or a helmet and actually wanted Dodge or total armor percent rather than max life? Anybody ever? serious question. Tempering is trash because Blizzard made it that way.
Early on in the season I might want Armor % to maintain cap as the temper has a lower opportunity cost than +armor on an item slot has for some builds
So far through three builds I can’t think of any that would want Armor % at the final set-up though
Yeah the thing with armor is they made it a throw-away stat because it’s capped at 9800 or whatever and you ca get that with a single Juggernaught aspect. You can have 7-8k armor very early. Resistances are the same, they are a little harder to cap at tier 4 but not difficult at all. Those tempers are useless too, since you have a 1 in 6 chance of even getting the resist you want.
Just let me pick my temper and RNG the % instead.
I did playing Ball Lightning Sorc last season… Tempering was best to have dodge on legs, Max Life was pointless as you’re immortal through barriers anyway… I tempered for dodge and got it on every item I tried to get it on, varying degrees of course (Mostly min rolls still, but, a min roll of the right stat is still a win).
my sweet summer child, it is very bold (and very incorrect) of you to assume that the roll chances are evenly spread.
In reality, the sought after affixes are weighted much lower.
Please don’t even start this again. There is no weighting of affixes in Tempering. None. Unless you can prove otherwise (because we have a plethora of evidence to support this), just don’t.
And to help get rid of any issues you might have with regards to RNG. I wrote a simple program to generate random numbers between 1 and n (where n is 3, 4, 5 etc…) and I was able to get the same number as much as 15 times in a row.
Over the course of a million rolls, you still have an equal distribution of values, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a dozen of the same value consecutively.
Anyone who’s tempered anything knows that just isn’t true, especially if that tempering involves “not rolling Thorns”.
Huh. Someone actually did want dodge on a character, butr I guess anything is possible with enough people experimenting.
I call total BS that there is no weighting of the rolls. Ridiculous.
To fix tempering, they should allow us to do the same thing as enchanting where it asks if we want to replace the current one with the new one. I would be 100% okay with tempering if they did this. It just sucks when you have a stat you want but it’s not perfect so you go to roll again and you never see it again… I would rather take the crappy version than no version.
Like I said, don’t even start with this nonsense. There’s 0 evidence that tempering is weighted. It’s been tested with thousands of rolls and the weighting is equal. If you don’t believe me, try it out yourself.
Statistically you’re more likely to get the stuff you want than not, but random is random, and you getting 1-2 trashed items does not prove anything.
If you have a claim, back it up with evidence, like has already been done to prove that it’s not weighted. We had this discussion going on all through S4, and not a single person has been able to prove that there is weighting.
The evidence is in the game and its obvious to anyone that’s tempered more than a few items. Either you don’t play much or you’re trolling.
You clearly don’t understand how evidence works. Blizzard have statistics, and myself and others have either done extensive testing or simulations that prove that what individuals see in game is normal when there is no weighting, and that there’s no evidence of weighting.
If you think there is evidence, prove it. Show us the numbers.
