Hello,
Tempering is fine and gives a Las Vegas “adrenaline rush,” BUT we should decide if a stat should be replaced or not.
It does not make sense from a game design perspective that if you have rolled a needed stat (the lowest rolled stat) and have two rolls left, you do not reroll again because you are afraid the stat might not appear again.
Give us at least the option to replace a stat or not. Otherwise, it is very fun (and risky), and bricked items can still be used; they are just missing a desired stat.
Thanks!

They all say bricking is all good and ok until they find once in a lifetime (If you are ssf) godly base item that has 3 GA on hard to roll stat and that ends up bricking. Then, they realize why bricking sucks.

I think some people haven’t really started the GA hunt. They’re really rare - in like 25 hours I found a single usable one. A not to be named (cause it seems to trigger people) streamer who already has a level 100 on each character saved every single GA he found and only had 1.5 stash pages of them. This dude plays like 14 hours a day.
My estimation is it will take hundreds of hours just to get the GA’s you want in each slot for a character. Bricking one would feel terrible. To me if a game starts feeling like some Sisyphean chore I just shut it off. I guess the no-lifers have something to do now at least.
Keep this energy when deep in the game. It’s an absolute dealbreaker when you need that ONE PIECE to push the pit.
How does the tempering or the gear in this game give any sort of rush? It is just knowing exactly what stats you want from the start and if you don’t get those stats then bad. There isn’t an aspect of if I get another stat it may make me want to reconfigure my character because that stat could potentially be better. The current system is extremely boring.
If that happened, of course I would be disappointed but life would go on.
I wonder how many people who are complaining about such things have spent the time needed to earn an Uber unique?
It would easily put this whole thing in perspective.
In any case, this is just my opinion and by no means should be taken as anything more than that.
This is a really easy fix, 2 steps
-
Every newly added Temper level refreshes your max affix rerolls on the item.
-
At max Temper you can remove all tempers for an outlandish gold cost, scaling to the rarity of the item.
Poof! Problem solved! Now if you want to reset your item to unbrick it, you can while adding an additional uber late game grind and keeping the core of the RNJesus system intact.
