i had similar things happen a few times, it obviously feels like someones making fun of you.
but just looking at it from a statistical PoV: why shouldn’t it be possible?
you can throw a coin and have it land heads 10times in a row, unlikely, but very possible.
i agree the tempering system might need some fine polish, but getting unlucky with the RNG will always be a thing in a loot-based game
Happens to the best of us. Can’t tell you how many items I’ve gotten nothing but skeletal mage damage on an item until I ran out of attempts. That’s 1 in 3 mind you. Feels bad, but we press on, or we quit the game, whichever works.
what if you want the same stat but with a higher roll? your “solution” just brings more issues.
just accept that you got unlucky, that is way more likely than some hidden weight mechanic. different builds want different tempers, why would one be more likely than others? and what would even be the point?
there is already enough visible RNG layers to keep people playing longer, there is no need to have hidden weight in Tempers.
Randomness is never a good system. Make systems that require grind to then get what you want, not random on top of random on top of random, and to mix things up a bit, more randomness on top of that.
There does seem to be some affixes that the system rolls the most. On my Necro, I will always roll larger decreptify area three to four times more often then say corpse explosion size.
What it looks like to me is the system is weighed to roll utility affixes over damage.
But we should keep in perspective that RNG has to be in a game like this. Otherwise we would have nothing to do and be bored. And you know, When i do get that perfect roll it kinda makes it worth the grind.
Thats the entire purpose of an arpg. Arpg without a grind isnt an arpg.
Disagree. RNG is great, its why people play diablo. Immediately D3 was plauged with participation throphies and instant gratification which was an insult to the franchise.
So you disagree big whoop enjoy rng then lol. Me personally I would rather spend a week farming materials to get that one guaranteed roll then a week with pure rng where I might get what I want, and maybe a bunch of other stuff, but also might get sweet FA personally.
My current Record as of this evening is 8 in a row out of 4 options (well 8 options since all are +1 or +2)… So really it’s amazing to get 8 (say) +1s of 1 in a row. ugh.
Probability has that as 1 in 8 chance as 12.5% for ‘roll’ 1… then for 8 identical rolls in a row… Probability would be like… 0.000006%? An 8th of an 8th of an 8th… ect… for 8 rolls. I don’t know something like that… Where’s the statistical/probability mathematician at 2am?
Temper and enchanting rolls are weighted. This was addressed by the community during the PTR and the dev team ignored it completely. They didn’t acknowledge or fixed it.
For the barbs out there let me ask you this, how many times did you get kick vulnerable duration or upheaval size in a row? Now how many times did you get bash cleaves in a row? Don’t rush to answer, think about it for a second, try to remember, or better yet go in game, take 5 weapons and temper furious augments and check the results.
It’s crazy right? This is scummy behavior of the highest order. Now go reroll a chest piece armor and see how many times in a row you get impairment reduction, life per second or thorns and how many times in a row do you get all ress or cdr on helm.
And… it always seem easier to get a max roll on some crap gear, and I always have the feeling better gears drop early on (newbie protection?). I am still using a necklace and a pair of gloves of 800ish in s4; and similar observations in previous seasons.
I am tired of that group of people saying it’s how rng works, so delusional. With the number of times where I see same affix roll in a row, the chance is close to winning a lottery. That’s certainly not how rng works.
