Temper system is really horrible

Tempering should allow a reset like Masterworking does, even at a cost. Many, many, many times now, I’ve had to toss perfectly good gear items because the temper rolls didn’t go my way.

Just now, I’m trying to get the “Chance for Chain Lightning Projectiles to Cast Twice,” but it won’t come up. Instead, I got Ball Lightning casting twice. The only problem is that I don’t even have Ball Lightning in my build.

The tempering system, as it is, is the single most frustrating thing I hate about the game.

Lol exact same thing happened to me other day on my chain lightning sorc. Was aiming for the chance to strike twice and got spark or ball lightning which I cant use. Very frustrating, especially when you brick an item where a certain temper only has like 3 or 4 options and you keeping getting everything else except what you need.

Not to mention legendary gear even in it’s abundance is next to impossible to find with the right stat mix one needs, even more rare getting one with any greater affixes. It’s just stupid bricking these pieces that should be veey helpful then getting screwed tempering. This whole game is lazy design by clueless developers.

S6 will have a scoll of reset but the only frustration is to those who dont understand they have a 3/5 on drop.

This game relies on RNG too much. If I had to roll a die to see if my poop lands in the toilet or on the floor, I’d just kill myself.

Rng is the backbone of arpgs. D4 is so simple it plays like “my first arpg”.

The current system is better then the old and the upcoming changes to tempering manuals tighten it up more.

Sorry, OP. I don’t think the D4 designers really give any Fs for players complaining about tempering. They think it’s great, apparently.

You know the saddest thing? I really doubt they have the humility to admit they need to rework itemization again. Cuz the current iteration of itemization is better than it was, but it’s really not enough to keep veteran players around. Sh’s getting really BORING AF right now with their tempering system. They’ve made it even more limiting with the upcoming changes to Ancestral vs Legendary.

Community just has to keep up the pressure. We got 1roll per GA added. We got scroll added. Just keep it up until they finally realize their mistake and fix tempering once and for all. Bricking is a huge feel bad design flaw. One they want us to do as part of the journey. We just have to keep saying no we reject this notion in force nonstop until they relent.

The one that drives me nuts is trying to get +HP from the Defensive skills. Just today I bricked two 925 GA items with 5 “+X% To Dodge” rolls back to back (to back to back to back) with the occasional +X% To Total Armor thrown in. FFS, who the EFF needs 6% more dodge that badly? Lousy game design is lousy.

I find trying to “Enchant” something about 95% more frustrating them Tempering.

Frustrating in a different way… yes, the gold and mat sink is really bad… but you can (in theory) do it forever. It’ll be interesting to see if the reset actually makes it better or if it’ll end up being some new form of horror.

See, the reason why I personally don’t find Tempering frustrating is because I like to play this game.

By “liking” to play this game if I fail at tempering I chase the item again to Try again. It’s all about the grind and “Treasure/Loot” hunt that I like. Similar in a way to D 2.

Too many people (IMO) don’t like/want to do that. They want Unlimited attempts to get every single Aspect Perfect. And once it’s perfected, once they have everything they want on a gear Perfected their journey really should end cause they have Nothing to work for/do.

Yes it is.

It’s the phycology of the system. You see drops all day long, when they are no good you move on.

When something decent drops and you F it up yourself, getting an affix you don’t need, well you didn’t min max it, therefore it is not as strong as it should have been…

Late game at 80 and up this is really annoying as upgrade are few and far between.

Tempering is awesome. One and only thrilling exciting thing to do in DIV. Feels great when you have luck getting what you want. If you could always make sure that you get what you want it wont be a special event anymore.

I also bricked nice items. But 2 days ago a small lootgoblin dropped a 3GA bow for my filthy Andariel Rogue.

First thought: Ermahgerd here comes + 9000 poison res/+3 overpower dämitsch and +1 HP every 5 seconds.

But no. it was Dex, healthy Healthpoints and DOT. I giggled and my eyes getting bigger.

Come on, Blizzard knows what builds are played and what skills are used. So everything is weighed to make sure that the skill you want is not the skilled rolled. And if it does expect this:

Fixed a bug where tempering was rolling a desired skill. :rofl:

Ur a big fat liar and made this all up. Nobody would do this with a 3 GA bow with hit rolls hoping for 3% more barrage or 12% more dark shroud
