Temper limits have GOT TO GO

bro listen, im not trying to be insulting or anything. but it seems u got tiktok/zoomer instant gratification issues big time.

there are ARPG’s out there where people farm for years w/o ever seein their desirables. im not saying this has to be d4 too, but ur really talking from a high horse here. u have no idea what it means to actually not get what u want, d4 is a frekkin joke compared to that.

take a break, the season is still long af. come back fresh and grind some more. thats literally it. thing is, that u’ve been actually spoiled by games like d4 to a point where u feel egotistically entitled to get what you want. the underlying issue here is not the tempering, its what d4 did to your brain in the first place because of poorly implemented casino dopamine elements. thats the reason im calling everyone out here for babyraging because essentially that is what u are doing. u give kids constant gratification and theyll get used to this kinda dopamine highs and wont excpect anything less in the future, their brains are completely overstimulated just like yours. u see this with social media and smartphone era all the time know btw, kids cant sit still in class for 5 minutes and listen anymore.

maybe u’ll understand and see that tempering is perfectly fine the way it is and in fact, it is actually needed EXACTLY because of people like you.

i absolutely urge u to take a break from this game. ur not doing urself any favors by continuing digging ur own hole.

Man, I can’t recall how many times I’ve gotten excited about that little star icon for a perfect stat…and it’s ALWAYS life per hit/second. FML

New shop item! Bane of the Powerful, it comes in 3 Tiers

Pay 5 buckaroos, Tier 1: Resets a 1GA item
Pay 10 buckaroos, Tier 2: Resets a 2GA item
Pay 20 buckaroos, Tier 3: Resets a 3GA item

Tempering gah! I get why the mechanic is there. I’ve only bricked two items tho. So far in my casual world, I only have issues with how the temper affixes are spread across different scrolls. I’d like to see less stats per scroll to increase the odds. With my necro, I don’t use bone spirit. Lower the chance for the affixes that are not on our paragon board. Maybe sacrifice something of value before the temper, to have a higher chance for success.

You still get one shoot by the shadow boss with 110K HP at higher PIT, I tried with Barbarin before. So 60K is useless.

Really like this. I hope I have replied wherever possible.

At first, it was rage. I have now come to realize it’s either to make tempering consistent with a theme or to make it more generic (or even, just regroup for starters to make it fair). Build varation and ease to a certain extent to switch builds matter more to me.

If I didn’t get 6 rolls of the same stat i’d be happy, yes I’ve had it roll those on 2x now
bliz sad excuse for random number generator is pathetic

if statement with rolled compared to current, or use a rng

Almost. Needs to be like in D3, where the enchanting cost is static. You can still brick items with enchanting and it feels just as bad.

Cant wait, after 10days of /played in this season, to get my fist right stats 3GA and brick it. Not…

LOL so true. I really think that if you get a GA * that it should stay, even if you enchant that stat to something else. It would definitely take away the sting of getting a life per sec. roll.

Tempered affixes should be moved back to when the item drops.
Otherwise the tempering limit should stay, unchanged.
Itemization would become absurd without it.

I completely agree with the OP on this… 1 out of every 20 or so items i bring to the blacksmith to temper end up with the stats i want… Not necessarily the roll of that stat i want, but i’ll at least get the stat. The problem, and this is just my own bad luck, is its only the crappiest version of every piece of gear i’ve brought in that managed to get those stats, so finding a godly item is still like not finding one, and with the drops of items reduced, it takes significantly longer to find anything.

Here’s what i think should be done… Enchanting, Tempering, and Masterworking should essentially merge… You get your 5 chances to temper your item (this is the typical tempering). After 5 chances if you didnt get what you want, you get a reset option (just like Masterworking), but it gets more and more expensive each time, just like enchanting…

I also think that since this limits our chances at tempering (even with the changes im proposing), it should be even more like enchanting where a temper is can be applied or passed on. Maybe we get 8 to 10% resource cost reduction, i have 9, and it rolls 8… I can pass it and keep my 9%.

A middle ground would be like enchanting, you get choices of tempering bonuses, but even then the repeat RNG would still exist, increase the cost to include angelbreaths and the prisms so people dont go on sprees and to keep people chasing the dragon like degenerate addicts/gamblers.

how so? i worked my butt off. I farmed so many hours and pushed to pit 122. but after 3 weeks straight of no upgrades and haven a dozen items brick the system feels bad. its weighted bad rng and now that im done trying I wont be coming back because how bad it is. Ive farmed and crafted in poe and its never this bad to just instant brick your mageblood when it drops

fr there is no point in min maxing gear in D4, first of all you dont even need for anything, cause the best farm is afking in the blood maiden.

Second takes on average 50 hours of gameplay to drop a decent 2GA item, it should be exciting, but its not and youll just brick it, why would i even farm?

Not sure if I agree that Tempering limits need to go but I will strongly agree that repeat Affixes need to be addressed in a future patch. I’ve run into this same issue multiple times when Tempering. Mutliple times the same Affix rolls which is ridiculous. I’ve gotten a few 3x Greater Affix items but not a single one has pertained to the build I was using so they usually get sent to the scrap heap via Salvage at the Blacksmith. Either way, the same Affix being rolled multiple times on the same item needs to stop regardless.

That is a 95% failure rate. That seems really high.
I have around 30% chance to get both tempers. I don’t reroll if I get the temper no matter what the % is.

Triple GA with minimum Unique affix – personally I have never seen a good roll in all the years of playing Blizzard games. Literally: never. Yet I see streamers with perfect or nearly perfect rolls all the time. 3 GA plus 98% rolls on the Unique affix… I’d like to see data on just how rare those are. Sort of like my getting 12 fails in a row on an 80% chance roll. Sure, statistically possible, but so is the chance of all the air in the room moving into a corner.

Yeah the power of the cult. Nice having 100’s of followers feeding endless drops and materials. I should start a cult…
