Im glad to see set items making a return but I havent been able to find much about them except a few snipets here and there. I wanted sets back in the game more in the D2 vein, where they are valuable leveling up items until u get better items. Im hoping they dont go the route of D3 where sets were the best approach to itemization. I think were going to get that route though from what Ive seen. Has anyone found anything about low level set items as of yet ??
From reviewers, low level anything doesn’t exist. It’s blues and yellows and they’re as boring as ever. In my opinion, this continued approach by Blizzard to eliminate early legendaries is just completely silly and non-beneficial. All it does is make all itemization completely pointless. But I digress.
I don’t understand your comment in regards to D3. Talisman (sets) is a completely separate system to items. One really good example we know about is the Druid has a companion set where they get some Bear companions and those can give you buffs to all of your companions. Obviously you wouldn’t wear this if you’re not wanting companions and it’s probably BIS if your focus is on companions.
It’s Talisman Sets not Set Items. People keep confusing the two.
In D3 you were basically nothing without set items. In D4 the talisman helps to fine-tune your build but you can still function without the talisman.
There will be class-agnostic sets before torment… we don’t know if charms will have level requirements… my thought is they won’t, like runes. So presumably those would be your leveling set(s), if you don’t have something else that works better for how you level.
As someone else stated, it’s not your typical set items as seen in almost every ARPG (as in it doesn’t replace your weapons/armor). It’s a different set of items (Talisman/Charms sets) that acts independently of your equipped gear. As such, set items will not replace your gear and there will be “leveling sets” that require 2 to 3 pieces and are pretty much usable by every class and endgame sets that will be class-specific and, let’s hope, some damage-type specific ones that aren’t tied to a class either.
However, what it brings is that some sets will definitely be “Best in Slot” for a given skill or group of skills (e.g. the Paladin’s 500% [ x ] damage increase one while in Arbiter Form). We currently have access to a very short list of Talisman sets but the Paladin’s and Warlock’s “5 sets bonuses” have such ridiculously high damage increase value that I don’t know what to think about that yet.
For example, if you can maintain Arbiter’s cooldown to sub 12 seconds values with cooldown reduction items and the own’s set 0.1-0.5 sec CD reduction per hit, this set pretty much provides a constant 500% [ x ] damage increase for a Discipline-based build. Another Paladin’s set with, let’s say, a constant 100% damage increase will really pale in comparison, so it could drive people to simply use whatever set
Ahh OK, I thought they were actually bringing back set items that we could use / put in the talisman. So its probably going to be a multiplicative add to existing skill - IE power creep …
Not WHat I was Hoping to Hear …
Apparently, we’re losing a bunch of multiplicative damage increase here and there with the skill changes (and losing the passives multiplicative effect), but it’s indeed another layer of power creep. Sadly, those percentage (150-500%) are really too high and I would have hoped they would actually lower them on gear, paragon and set items, but they simply moved them around.
Next step is the game goes the way of D3 : 10 000% with skill X while Y is active. Yay….
There will be also unique charms . You will have to weight a seal with 4 set charms slots + 1 unique charm vs a seal with 5 set charms slots and various other combinations.
In addition you can turn some of the unique gear into unique charms.
apparently it’s 500% more damage (depending in some cases) multiplicative since everything now is additive when it comes to damage.. so people that is not buying the expansion is actually losing power.
I am looking forward to seeing this in action.
There are special seals that will allow you to do some new things, like have multiple unique charms. It won’t be quite as cut and dry as it first seems because right now all of our information is scattered in various leaks and interviews.
There’s pre-torment sets as well that’ll have generic bonuses. Where as the class specific ones will be torment dropped only.
Can you use 5 unique charms or limit to 1? 5 unique charms seems bonkers if you can.
I think one of the interviews said there was a seal that allowed 2. But, again, all of our information is scattered and incomplete.
