Hey Everyone, had a quick question regarding Tal Rasha’s Iridescent Loop. Is the damage application that procs the dmg% increase required to be from skills directly or could I have a piece of gear that does “x% Cold/Lightning/Fire Damage” which could trigger it as well?
Apologies for being a noob, I don’t play Seasonal characters so this is my first time acquiring the ring/ability and also haven’t had a chance to test it out myself. Thanks.
There are limited applications of this idea, namely andariels visage for poison, but yes it does work for a proc stack of tal rasha.
Like Andy’s? It can trigger an elemental poison stack. So it’s not just direct skills

When you’re “out in the field” you can see an icon for your current Tal Rasha stacks above your action bar so fortunately, it’s pretty easy to test what is giving you a stack and how many you have.
-Note that if a piece of gear says +/% to Cold(as an example) damage, this does not mean you’re gear piece is hitting things for cold damage by itself, the numbers simply modify any cold damage you use. There are exceptions as has been mentioned.
-I believe you can also get poison from for an extra Tal Rasha stack from a Vampiric Power. I want to say it’s called “Infection”?
-You can also utilize your sorc Enchantment slots. I have Frozen Orb in one and it’s how I get my Frost stack of Tal Rasha.
Ice the Firebolt in the enchant slot, you can keep chain lightning then use the ice sword summon and the nox vampire power for poison. This will keep all 4 stacks up. Dont forget flame shield will proc the fire as well if you dont want to use firebolt but its only up for 2 secs.
alternatively, you can use ice orb and fire bolt in the enchant slots and nox vamp power to have it easy mode.
You have to cast a skill with a particular damage type and/or have a damage type as an enchantment. For example, I have CL as my core skill and have frozen orb and firebolt as enchantments. Casting CL will proc the fire and ice from the enchantments.
Others have mentioned that the Pox vamp power can get you poison as a 4th damage type and 4th stack. Once the stack is achieved, it will not go away as long as you are doing damage of any of the types.
One other way you can get poison to proc the ring is the affix for NMDs where when you evade, you leave behind a pool of poison.
The Infection vampire power can trigger the poison stack as well, you don’t need Andariel visage for it.
Why are ppl wasting a skill slot / enchant slot for ice? Blue Rose procs ice spikes and applies the ice portion.
Blue rose is not really that good when you already have to give up an aspect/crit etc with tals. Plus tossing ice orbs while you are already spinning is a no-brainer (for me anyway.
In a way the new ring opened up alot of possibilities once you have enough mana regen to not need chain lightning in your enhancement slot. OFC this is from a BL prespective.
Blue Rose isn’t suitable for every build. In my experience I think it’s only good for Blizzard-based builds. Some folks even think X’FAL is even better than Blue Rose even for Blizzard build.
I stick with Blue Rose on my Blizz Sorc and prefer Xfal on my Burn Sorc so that I don’t have to repeat the same loadout.
1 point in Ice blades is another common option
I have a Blue Rose and thought about trying it but with a CL build, i dont want to give up the CL bounce gains mana on my other ring.
Poison is not elemental.
How is it stacking then with Tal Rasha? It states for each Elemental damage. If it’s not elemental then what is it?
I don’t do poison damage, so I can’t confirm. But poison is not elemental. Same for shadow. You only have three elements in the game.
Poison is not elemental? But when you use poison, Tal Rasha adds a stack. If you look at the description of that ring, it states for every elemental damage.
So if it’s not elemental, are you saying Tal Rasha is bugged because why is it stacking with poison then.
I won’t be surprised. But for sure poison is not elemental.
while the vampiric power Infection adds a Tal Rasha stack from poison damage, the poison nova from Andariel’s Visage does not unfortunately… hope that helps
I think we are trying to figure out if poison is elemental damage. Now, if they messed up the ring, is a different story. Poison is not elemental.
poison and shadow damage do count as elemental. you see that when adding resistances to all elements, it also adds them to poison and shadow.
so the real question is, why the heck does the Uber Unique Andariel’s Visage not stack Tal Rasha with its poison nova?
